Please take time to read up on these 5 special student athletes that are capable of having a great impact on a Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, JUCO or NAIA Roster. Extremely coachable kids that want to earn an opportunity at the next level!
SIOUX CITY EAST: SENIOR DT/DE Cale Pittenger Cale Pittenger 6'1" | 260 lbs | DL Sioux City East | 2023 State IA 6-1 (255)
Here is a kid that is very talented inside at DT and can also play outside at DE which is where he has found himself these last two regular season games as the coaching staff has found even more production outside. Pittenger is incredibly productive as a senior, he has recorded (58.5) tackles which is #1 for all DT all classes and (24.5) TFL which ranks #2 overall and #1 for a DT in Iowa. Pittenger’s junior year consisted of (32.5) tackles and (14.5) TFL all on the inside at DT. My observations have been his excellent use of hands inside, non-stop motor and understands leverage proven by switch to DE these last two games and is bigger, stronger and faster as a senior due to a great off-season regiment. Great football IQ… college prospect! Check him out as you too will be impressed! Big component of the Black Raiders earning a playoff berth at (7-2). Division 1 prospect in my eyes.
LAWTON-BRONSON: JUNIOR WR Caleb Garnand 6-1 (170)
Junior WR Garnand is a speedster (4.5) range 40-yd dash with good hands and has game breaking speed. Garnand is a willing downfield blocker in the run game and opens up other receivers downfield to make plays. The offensive system he is playing in is a perfect fit for him to showcase his execution in route running and ability to play inside or outside wherever he is needed. The son of head coach Jason Garnand has a very high football IQ and understands the nuances of the position to settle in coverage and knows where the sticks are at. Garnand’s junior season established regular season school record for receptions with (62) receptions for (714) yards and (7) touchdowns. Garnand as a sophomore had (21) receptions for (444) yards and (6) touchdowns the one year growth is evident. This season included two other key receivers on the roster who combined for (1,085) yards receiving. Very productive and has leadership qualities for a team that has high expectations for the 2023 season after a (4-5) finish this fall. 2022 state track champion in Sprint Relay. Division 1 ability and certain Division 2 prospect.
BISHOP HEELAN: SENIOR TE Kannon Bork Kannon Bork 6'2" | 215 lbs | TE Bishop Heelan Catholic | 2024 State IA 6-2 (215)
Junior TE that is beginning his upward trajectory after a solid junior football season. Bork hauled in (19) passes for (183) yards and (1) score in a new system under a new coaching staff. There is a huge upside here due to Bork’s athleticism. Bork has great hands but can really move with the ball after the catch. Bork also a DE is becoming an improving inline blocker and has the flexibility to be spread outside and create height miss-matches on the outside in the downfield passing game. I look for Bork to double his offensive production next fall and help lead the Crusaders to the playoffs. Bork has time this off-season to improve his speed and strength. Beneficiary of an excellent high school coaching staff led by former Iowa Hawkeye captain and head coach Jon LaFleur. Great prospect at the Division 2 level and possibly beyond.
HINTON: SENIOR RB BEAU DEROCHER 5-11 (175)
I like a good story and this is one of the better ones this fall. Senior RB Beau DeRocher has rushed for (1,356) yards and (18) touchdowns for the BlackHawks who have rebounded from a (1-7) season a year ago to already clinching a first round playoff win to move to (6-3) on the season. Derocher rushed for just (89) yards as a junior and has really taken a leap forward here as a senior. DeRocher also has (10) receptions out of the backfield for (138) yards and (2) scores. This is a talented player that is hard nosed and is the ultimate team player. DeRocher in my opinion is a great fit for an NAIA roster and folks just need to watch the tape. Great addition to a college roster.
