With colleges still searching to fill their roster for next year, the Silver Hawks have offered up seven Class of 2023 seniors who are ready for the next level – and have plenty to offer.
Here is a look at seven under-the-radar prospects ready to showcase their many abilities at the next level:
Eddie Bell, Slot, 5-9, 165. 3.0 GPA. 17 ACT. 1060 SAT. When you have hands, make adjustments and can catch the ball, college coaches will be watching. He plays the game with loads of desire and will make plays because of the passion he plays with.
Danny Izquierdo, LB/FB, 5-10, 199. 3.1 GPA. 23 ACT. One of those players that every team needs. He shows up wherever he plays on either side of the ball – as a blocker, runner, tackler at the linebacker position or on special teams. He is what many refer to as a “gamer”.
David Izquierdo, FB/RB, 5-6, 170. GPA: 3.5. 18 ACT. Don’t let the size fool you because this is someone who plays this game with passion and will perform on both sides of the ball. Runs very well, blocks and is stronger than you think – placing third at the State Weightlifting Championships. All-around young man who also gets it done in the classroom.
Michael Kici, OL, 6-1, 265. 2.5 GPA. 950 SAT. The first thing you notice about this impressive young man is he never quits and has a mean streak on the field. Solid technically and you can see how the hours of hard work has paid off. As opponents avoid engaging with him, you can see how his motor helps him become a factor in just about every play. Really good run blocker.
Preston Mckown, WR, 6-2, 180. 2.5 GPA. This is a bigger player than you think, and in the offense that this team runs, his blocking skills stand out, and that is very important to college coaches. Because he loves to stick his nose into the defense on every play, some colleges may look at him as a safety. Has the size, mind set and skill to play on both sides of the ball.
Brandon Neill, LS, 6-0, 175. 3.0 GPA. 820 SAT. While special teams performers are usually taken for granted, especially long snappers, this is someone that colleges may want to look at. His velocity and accuracy improve all the time. The young man is worker and that signals that improvement cannot be far behind. He has the talent. Now all he needs to do is progress from day-to-day.
Jeremy Villafane, RB, 5-9, 160. 3.0 GPA. 820 SAT. His ability to hit the hole quickly and keep his balance is the true mark of a solid runner. Really good vision and instincts and has the balance to keep his feet, not going down on the first hit. Not blazing fast, but quick enough to be a good line from scrimmage runner – and even more of a threat coming out of the backfield in space.
