At 6’3” 180 lbs. Owen’s possesses a well-rounded foundational skillset and strong natural instincts for the QB position. He flashes great pocket awareness, decision making, and improvisation to be a playmaker on breakdowns. He’s very smooth and fluid in his drop back, landing with a well-balanced platform and good ball placement to quickly deliver. Good ability to feel and anticipate pressure allowing him to use his athleticism/legs to escape the pocket and throw on the run to either direction without sacrificing velocity or accuracy. Can also make explosive plays as a runner/ball carrier. Finished the 2021 season as the region offensive player of the year with 3,225 total yards and 33 touchdowns.
Germaine’s a strong pocket passer capable of making all the throws and attacking the defense at all three levels. At 6’1” 185 lbs. he possesses plus arm talent and pocket mobility. Flashes a great ability to be accurate throwing from different arm angles and off balanced platforms. The release release/delivery is quick and compact allowing him to anticipate and hit on timing routes. Really like his ability to layer the ball over second level defenders and throw the deep ball with good touch and trajectory. Can sit back in the pocket and dice his way down the field with his arm but not afraid to pull it down, tuck it, and make a play with his legs and deceptive speed. Through five games this season, he’s thrown for 1,300 yards and nine touchdowns.
Watson shows a lot of natural ability and athleticism as Coconino’s signal caller. He possesses good size, frame, and length to operate as a dual-threat QB at 6’2” 190 lbs. with good growth potential. He has an accelerated release but flashes the ability to throw from different arm angles while mixing up velocities to throw a catchable ball. Flashes good feet to quickly get into his drop and maneuver around the pocket to manipulate the rush and create open throwing lanes. Really like his patience and composure as a passer while the play develops, never appears in a rush or panicked allowing him to process his reads and be smart with the football. As a runner, he’s a physical and aggressive downhill ball carrier that shows good open field speed and contact balance to break tackles.
Jones is a dynamic athlete and has shown a ton of upside and potential as a first year starter at Mesquite. At 5’11” 165 lbs. he’s got a live arm that can hit his spots at all three levels with accuracy and velocity. Shows a good ability to throw his receiver’s open and hit them in stride allowing them to run after the catch and extend gains. Plus athleticism, he does a great job extending plays with his legs and creating something out of nothing when protection breaks down. Love his confidence and composure without being reckless with the football, he’s not afraid to push the ball down field and allow his receiver to go up and make a play. Was a top performer at the northern California Prep Redzone Showcase this past offseason and has continued to show good improvement and development since then.
