Continue ReadingHere’s a watch list prospect who has made his case to land on our rankings this December, a great case at that. Cromartie is completing 69% of his passes through three games, all while throwing for 500+ yards and 5 scores. There is a lot to like when breaking down his three-game tape. The kid doesn’t tower over the line in the pocket, successful quarterbacks at this height are usually dual-threat athletes. Not Cromartie, although the kid can use his legs to his benefit, Cromartie can sit in the pocket, make reads and launch footballs 50+ yards downfield. He is seen taking pressure, while still delivering accurate balls. The route tree is wide, showing he can work a solid number of routes that attack all three levels of the field. Arm strength is always a question if you’re not 6’5, Cromartie answers this with throws like the one at the 2:03 mark on his tape. Take a look below.
Hugo Gil Hugo Gil 6’3″ | 305 lbs | DL Chesire Academy (CT) | 2023 State New E is another name that deserves a bump in our rankings. A modest mid-season tape, along with reps against Phillips Exeter has me thinking Gil might be a tad bit better than his rank suggests. We will need to see more but it’s nice to see Gil work nearly every alignment between the edge rushers. NG, 3-Tech, DT head-up. It’s also nice to see him use active hands in the interior. Gil can clog rushing lanes and stand up his opponent at the very least. Saw him absorb some double-team blocks without much displacement. He’s trending in the right direction.
Highlights
James Fealy
James Fealy
Here’s a new name to the site that is showing off a promising skillset that’s full of potential. Deerfield Academy likes to deploy James Fealy, a 6’4 OLB, in multiple alignments. I don’t often see a kid this size be able to play both on the LOS and rush the passer or set the edge, while also legitimately being able to cover the slot and run with weapons downfield. Special talent that could be unlocking here. Coaches at the next level drool over this type of prospect. He’s more than just measurables, the kid is putting effort and reps together on tape. I like his pursuit to the football when he’s playing close to the LOS. I like his stride and hips when tested in the passing game, he isn’t too stiff for the most part. Very intriguing player here.
Kamar Archie
Kamar Archie
Hard to imagine this kid not being ranked on our site. That has to change as soon as possible. I rarely dabble into NJ prospects, this young man is certainly worthy of my attention. Kamar Archie of the Hun School has put out a four-game tape that rivals some of the best underclassmen in PA. This kid is a national recruit that is tearing through defenses at will. Love how Archie differentiates between styles, showing toughness and vision to squeeze through any gap in the trenches, then explode and show off his elite acceleration once he hits the second level. He can turn this switch on and off as he pleases, an advanced trait for a sophomore to possess. I liken his skillset to the running back position when projecting for the future, yet you can’t say enough about his instincts at the linebacker position. The same vision he shows off with the ball in his hands translates to the other side of the field. Archie has a seasoned feel for when and where to attack a gap and get ball carriers down. I’m just now hearing about this young man. Excellent player.
Davian McDonald Davian McDonald 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Williston Northampton | 2025 State New E is a sophomore lefty quarterback whose decisiveness sticks out immediately. McDonald runs the short/intermediate passing game with timing and accuracy. There is a clear understanding of rhythm and footwork necessary to hit his underneath timing routes effectively. An orchestrator of the offense that can deliver some special throws downfield or earn you some yardage with his feet. His ability to hit slants, out routes, and hitches on time impresses more than anything. This skill set is a great one to build off of. The special talent will unlock with time, it’s great to see this young quarterback excel in one of the harder aspects of the position and that’s anticipation. His stock is going up.
Tommy Dunn
Tommy Dunn
Not sure how this monster slipped through the cracks. He only has 22 Division 1 offers and counting. Put that spectacular number aside, his Mid-season tape speaks for itself. This young man is an actual game-wrecker whose early tape has enough elite plays at linebacker to call it a season’s worth of tape. It’s only a three-game tape. Dunn has rare gap-shooting ability. His ability to move laterally while still gaining momentum is rare as well. Dunn will expose any missed assignments in the trenches and has the motor and pursuit to guess wrong and still make TFLs in the backfield. Would easily place as a top 10 linebacker in all of New England. A man amongst boys.
