While there are plenty of players throughout the state of Georgia who have begun to rise to the occasion this year, there are a few players who have stood among the rest. Below, we have listed the top 5 sack leaders going into week 5 of the season.

– Allatoona
Out of all of the defensive players in the state, Odinijor, and the next player on our list have already placed themselves at the top of the sack leaderboard going into week 5. At this point of the season, not only has Odinijor proven to be a force to be reckoned with by opposing defenses, but he has also proven to be a valuable asset for his defense as a whole. Not only does he make valuable stops in the backfield, but he also does so in pursuit. At this point of the season, he has caused ball carriers to lose 41 yards, and has already recorded 1 QB hurry. In addition to this, he has already totaled 8 sacks, with an average of 2 sacks a game. Look for him to continue to up his game as the weeks go by.
Aidan Butts- Stephens County
Butts, who has the same amount of sacks as Odinijor, has also totaled 8 sacks to this point of the season, and has done so with an average of 2 sacks per game in the past 2 games. One of the most valuable parts of his game is the way that he plays in pursuit, and is able to change direction, and make plays in the backfield. He also plays with a decent bit of speed, and explosiveness, and we love to see the way that this translates off of the line as he works his way past linemen. Expect him to continue to advance in many ways as the season goes by.
AJ Pigford- South Gwinnett
Even though Pigford has only played 3 games this season, he has managed to rack up an impressive sack count of 7 sacks, which has put him in 3rd place on our list at this point. Not only is this impressive considering the fact that he has not played many games, but this also means that he has averaged a little over 2 sacks a game. This high level of production has been very helpful for his team’s defense, as they have stopped ball carries, and passers of the football all season with ease. Because of his contributions, his team has also seen themselves achieve a 3-0 record. Going into the rest of the season, look to see if Pigford can keep this up, and find his way on this list in the future.
Justin Walker- Westside
Just like Pigford, Walker has also had a very efficient season off of the edge. After 4 games, he has totaled 7 sacks, and has also averaged around 1.8 sacks a game. This, along with his successful tackles at the line of scrimmage, and in the backfield, have resulted in timely stops for his team, and a lack of yards allowed. In fact, part of Walker’s success has also come from the fact that his production has caused there to be 16 yards lost on ball carriers this season. We have no doubt that this amount will continue to rise as the season goes by, and we look to see him grow this total, as well the amount of sacks he has totaled.
Logan Brooking- Savannah Christian
In just 3 games, Brooking has also seen himself achieve a high level of production. His production is not far off from Pigford and Walker, as he has totaled 6.5 sacks so far, and has done so with ease. His average of 2.2 sacks a game are not only impressive, but they are indicators that he will likely be one of the leading players in defensive production for his team this season. He has already caused ball carriers to lose 26 yards from tackles for a loss, and he has also caused a QB hurry to this point of the season. As he continues to dive deeper into the high school season, look for him to become a more refined pass rusher, and to be able to learn how to use his hands, and explosive ability more effectively.
