Below, we have included some of our favorite kick scoring leaders entering into week 5 of the high school season. Make sure to make note of some of these names, as some of them will climb the ranks, while others may never make the list again. Only time will tell what may happen.
Mack Mikko- Heritage
Even though it is not by much, Mack Mikko, out of Heritage High School in Newnan, GA, currently leads the state in kick scoring, as he has scored 27 points for his team this season. This has come in an impressive fashion, as he has done so in just 3 games, which means that he has averaged around 9 points a game. With this, it should be noted that he has scored this many points due to 18 PAT’s, and 3 Field Goals. Moving forward, expect Mikko to continue to be a difference maker for his team, even to the point where he helps add on to their undefeated record, even if games go down to the wire.
Ty Roldan- Kennesaw Mountain
Impressive enough, Roldan has also scored a high volume of points in just 3 games for his team. Entering into his team’s next game, he has already scored 26 points in just a short amount of time. This means that he has averaged around 8.7 points a game. Out of all of these points, it should be noted that Roldan has displayed solid accuracy, and great leg strength. This can be seen in the fact that 15 of his points are from 5 different field goals. The 11 other points have come from PAT’s.
Thomas Bryant- Houston County
Just like Roldan, Thomas Bryant has also already kicked for 26 total points. The only difference is the fact that he has done so in 4 games, rather than 3. Nevertheless, this amount of points and success this early in the season is worth noting, as well as the way that he has been able to kick with consistency, and accuracy. In 4 games, he has already scored on 1 Field Goal, and has made 23 PAT’s. Moving forward into the rest of the season, expect him to be a model of consistency for his team, and to be a piece for the coaching staff to rely on if the game ever comes down to a crucial kick.
Jacob Ulrich- Mill Creek
Even though Ulrich is only about 2 points shy of Roldan and Bryant, he has still been one of the most impressive kickers in the state to this point of the season. So far, his 24 points have come with an average of 8 points a game, as he has reached this total in just 3 games. With this, it should also be noted that he has totaled 12 PAT’s, and 4 field goals, only further proving how versatile of a player that he is. Look for him to continue to add on to his current success as the season progresses.
Jacob Russell- Carrollton
While it is only a slim margin from Mikko’s lead in points, Russel has also already scored 24 points to this point of the season, and has done so after 4 games. In these 4 games, he has averaged 6 points a game, and has accumulated these points with 18 PAT’s and 2 Field Goals. One thing we have already begun to appreciate about his game is his ability to kick with a successful arc, and timing. This has made him a better kicker, and will likely contribute to any success that he has moving forward this season. Look for him to begin to have more opportunities for field goal kicks, as his early success has proven that he is worthy of these chances.
