At the high school level of play, this tends to be everything, especially due to the fact that most programs do not have the ability to throw vertically down the field. Because of this, the level of success that high school backs are able to see, and maintain down the stretch is something worth noting, and worth respecting. Below, we have included the top 5 rushing yards leaders in the state of Georgia so far this year.
Jayden Mason- Calvary Christian
For plenty of high school programs, their teams are largely led to success by a strong running game. Jayden Mason has proven that he has been able to provide this for Calvary Christian on a weekly basis. After only 3 games, Mason has already rushed for 927 yards- which are video game numbers- and has averaged around 309 yards a game. In the state of Georgia, Mason leads the state in rushing by a 300 yard margin, with the second place leader playing in just as many games. Mason has also averaged around 10 yards a carry, and has seen a long of 92 yards when toting the rock. With this, it should also be noted that he has yet to see himself fumble, but has seen himself in the end zone 12 times. Moving forward, expect him to continue to perform at an incredibly high rate, finding new ways each week to put his team on his back.
Cam Vaughn- Temple
Lucky enough for Vaughn, his high level of performance for Temple High School has not only led his team to a 2-1 record, but his 637 yards so far this season are over a 130 yard gap between his placement on this list, and the third player on this list. This buffer will help him as he racks up yards in the coming weeks. It should also be noted that Vaughn has averaged around 212 yards a game, with about 10 yards a carry on 58 attempts. With this, he has also seen about 10 TD’s in 3 games, proving that he is not just putting up empty yards, but yards and plays that translate to success for his team.
Jordan Louie- Meadowcreek
Even though Louie has only rushed for 4 TD’s, while only seeing 1 fumble this year, he has still proven to be a versatile back for his team, putting up around 166 yards a game, contributing to a total of 498 yards so far this year. With this, he has also averaged around 11 yards a carry on only 45 touches, only further showing how efficient of a back he is with the ball in his hands. While we expect him to continue to put up a high volume of yards moving forward, we also recognize that his placement on this list is his spot to lose, as the success of other players could cause the last few spots on this list to shake up drastically in the next few weeks.

, who has seen his fair share of success this season. Not only has Brown stepped up for his team, but he has done so in ways that have contributed with plenty of yards, and TD’s. This season, Brown has already rushed for 486 yards, and has done so on 53 carries. With this, he has also averaged around 162 yards a game, and has rushed for around 9 yards a carry. To this point of the season, he has also ran for 8 TD’s, and has proven that he can carry a team on his legs. Going into the rest of the year, look for him to produce at a high rate, finding ways to potentially remain on this list for a good bit of time.
Elijah Coleman- Portal
After just 3 games, Coleman has helped lead Portal to a 3-0 record. This is largely due to the success the team has had on the ground, through Coleman. In total, Coleman has already rushed for 479 yards, and has averaged around 159.7 yards a game. With this, he has also averaged slightly over 10 yards a carry, and has done so on 47 attempts. With this, he has also seen a long of 80 yards, and has seen 7 TD’s in just a 3 game span. If he can continue to produce at this rate, we expect him to have a great season. The greater question still remains though of if he can maintain his spot on this list as other players rack up similar amounts of yards as well. Only time will tell.
