Continue ReadingDefensively, one of the best statistical categories to track a player’s production is the amount of tackles in which he has been able to total. At this point of the season, there have already been plenty of players who have been competing at a high level, putting themselves in place to make this list, or come close to making this list. This makes it even more valuable when a player has found themselves on this list for the first time, or even second, third, etc. Moving into the rest of the season, it will be interesting to see who will remain on this list, and how the players who are already on this list are able to progress.
Wesley Michaelson- Augusta Christian
While the high schools in the August area do not get as much attention or respect as they deserve at times, Michaelson has proven that his performance for his defense is something worth noting, and talking about. In only 3 games, Michaelson has found a way to top this list, with 45 total tackles. Out of this total, 21 of them are solos, and 24 of them are assists. Not only is this a very solid balance, but he has had a high level of success in the backfield when making tackles as well. As a result, Michaelson has seen himself rack up 5.5 tackles for a loss, and 2 sacks so far. If this is what his success looks like after 3 games, stick around to see what he can put up by the end of the year, and if he can maintain his placement on this list.
John Thornton- St. Anne-Pacelli
While many fans may not be aware of the program that Thronton hails from, this is not a matter that holds him back in production, especially at the LB position. This season, not only has he proven to be an intricate part of his team’s defense, but he has shown that his level of awareness of the play at hand, has also resulted in key stops, and huge plays for his defense. So far, Thornton has totaled 41 tackles in just 3 games, which has contributed to an average of 13.7 tackles a game. In addition to this, he has also had 32 solo tackles, with 9 assists. To take things even further, he has also been able to play well in pursuit, including in various parts of the field, causing him to be able to have a tackle for a loss as well.

To this point of the season, Lavallee has already had a solid level of production. Going into high school football’s 4th week, his team has only played 2 games, and he has already seen 39 total tackles. In addition to this, his 39 total tackles came with 24 of them being solo tackles, and 15 of them being assists. Not to mention, he has also had a high level of success in the backfield, as he has found himself with 5 tackles for a loss in only 2 games. Moving forward into the rest of the season, expect him to continue to put up impressive numbers, and potentially make a run for the top spot on this list before it is all said and done.

, who’s name is beginning to get bigger and bigger to many fans, has popped up on our list going into week 4, as he has already racked up 37 tackles in a 3 game span. To add to this, he has averaged around 12.3 tackles a game, and has also had 16 solo tackles, compared to his 21 assists. With this, Allen has also produced at a very successful rate all around, as he has made timely plays and tackles, including the likes of his 1 tackle for a loss so far this year.
Nicholas Baloga- Rabun County
Funny enough, after the third week of high school football, it has seemed as if plenty of Rabun County players have found their way into the top 5 of various kinds of statistical categories to this point of this season. This happens to be a bit less of a shocker than one would think due to the nature of the program, and the prospects that come from it. Regardless, each individual player’s success, such as Baloga should not be taken lightly, whether they make the list once, or multiple times. Going into week 3 for his team, Beluga comes in 5th on our list of tackle totals, with 36 tackles so far this year. Out of all of them, 16 of them were solos, and 20 were assists. Along with this, he also had 3 tackles for a loss, which is impressive considering all of this came in a 2 game span.
