It is kind of hard to believe we are already through Week 3 of the prep football season. It feels like each year we count the days down and it just goes by so quick - almost like a blur.

Well, let us take a look back at some of the top performances from Week 3 around north-central Iowa:

JT Laufersweiler - St. Edmond - QB

The St. Edmond offense needed a performance like this, and they got it out of junior quarterback JT Laufersweiler. The first-year starter dominated both passing and throwing the ball, accounting for over 200 yards and four touchdowns.

Laufersweiler made quick decisions in the pocket, using his speed to break the North Iowa defense down and keep drives alive. He ran for 100 yards, averaging over five per carry, and found the end zone four times.

In the air, Laufersweiler completed 7 of 15, including five big passes to his top target, [player_tooltip player_id='320690' first='Johnny' last='Dickerson'].

Owen Hubbell - Humboldt - RB/LB

Owen Hubbell gives everything he has each time he steps on the football field. Hubbell, a Humboldt senior, might not be the biggest player, but he has one serious impact on the game.

In a 17-0 victory over Estherville-LC - the third consecutive shutout for the Wildcats - Hubbell recorded 3.5 sacks and had nine tackles. His quickness and ability to react quickly to where the ball is on each play sets him apart from other players.

[player_tooltip player_id='247945' first='Lance' last='Coon'] - Humboldt - RB

Last year, Humboldt rode all-stater and current Iowa State Cyclone Caden Matson to the Class 3A state semifinals. This year, they might do the same behind a ferocious defense and [player_tooltip player_id='247945' first='Lance' last='Coon']. The junior running back carried the ball 25 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns this past week.

Coon is explosive and uses his size to trick opposing defenders into thinking they are closing in on him before breaking free. Coon also has nice, soft hands, which allow him to catch the ball out of the backfield with ease.

[player_tooltip player_id='252221' first='Alex' last='Manske'] - Algona - QB/S

[player_tooltip player_id='252221' first='Alex' last='Manske'] doesn't play the quarterback position like a sophomore in his first season. No, the Algona standout is far superior to his years. He is coming off a 305-yard passing performance to go along with 73 yards rushing and four total touchdowns.

Manske will only continue to develop as a quarterback, showing constant improvement with each passing week. He continues to learn how to read defenses and uses his legs when the targets aren't there.

[player_tooltip player_id='104716' first='Javion' last='Jondle'] - Fort Dodge - WR

[player_tooltip player_id='104716' first='Javion' last='Jondle'] showed his all-state skills in an easy win for Fort Dodge over Waterloo East, as the senior wide receiver racked up 113 yards and a touchdown on nine catches. But there was more to his night than that, as Jondle also returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a score.

As explosive a player as there is in the state in the open field, Jondle continues to show tremendous skills at the receiver position. He has a big body with great hands and no concern with going over the middle of the field.
