Both programs are known to carry an array of next level players each season. At the end of the night the Catholic Memorial “Knights” from Massachusetts high powered offensive attack, was just too much to overcome for the Rhode Island Lasalle Academy “Rams” as the Knights walked away with a 47-7 victory. The Rams were without three of their top recruits. 2023 (RB) Jamezell Lassiter Jamezell Lassiter 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Deerfield Academy | 2024 State NewE and Justin Denson Justin Denson 6'2" | 185 lbs | ATH St. Thomas Moore CT. | 2024 NewE (DB/WR) and defensive back Chase Gouvin all didn’t dress while nursing undisclosed minor injuries. It was running clock throughout the second half with Catholic Memorial enjoying a 41-0 lead at the break. The following players were seen as the Top Performers of the game.
He was missing three of his top offensive weapons but “Varrecchione” still had a few attention grabbers worth mentioning. He has great command presence with good frame. His arm motion is smooth and can get rid of the ball quickly when needed. He threw a nice deep ball in the first quarter that would have gone for a TD if not nullified by a holding call. The throw was perfectly placed in front of the receiver who never broke stride and laid out for the completion. Varrecchione is a D1 prospect who recently committed to Robert Morris Univ while also getting heavy Ivy League interest from Cornell. HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2GWcuf

2023 (WR) Mervens Amazan Mervens Amazan 6’3″ | 200 lbs | WR Catholic Memorial (MA) | 2023 State NewE was explosive and exciting to see in live action. He has great awareness and athleticism. At 6’3″ his quickness popped along with having the ability to flip his hips and bend. He showed his ability to plant and cut away right or left from defenders while running in full stride. He seemed to play with a lot of passion from start to finish. Holds multiple D1 offers.
His size alone drew my attention. Did a outstanding job opening running lanes the entire 1st half. At 6’7″ he did not dissappoint. He is a very good down blocker who clears space and creates big running lanes. He was seen overwhelming his opponent with size, strength and physical ability. A very good athlete who moves well in space. Fires off ball well. He has the ability to mirror and move laterally. He holds several FBS Power 5 offers and easily confirmed his Prep Redzone Ranking as a top national recruit.

A pure athlete that was just fun to see in a live setting. “Jones” is electric. Was easily able to confirm his elite explosiveness and speed. He has got quick feet and runs balanced. He shows patience and vision but can stick foot in ground and hit hole with purpose and acceleration. He got to the second level quickly. Very instinctive runner who can change direction at high rate of speed and accelerate as well. Jones notched a pair of touchdown runs in the game. A power 5 recruit!!!! He is currently committed to Boston College.
The senior QB had himself a good opening night. “Petrongolo” threw a pair of touchdown passes as he settled into a second year under center for the Knights. He showed a command presence within the Knights offense. His accuracy of throws is what really stood out to me. He placed the ball where the receiver can easily make the catch in stride. His passes where with force and the ball came out quickly. We are hearing many colleges are following his success this season after suffering a shoulder injury last season that prevented him from being available for action in several games. We have him ranked within the top ten qbs in New England, He could increase his ranking position by end of season with performances as he did Friday night.
Harwood is ranked as our #6 RB in New England. He was exciting running the football on Friday night. His running skills along with his hands in the passing game are top knotch. Harwood caught a beautiful 60yrd pass for TD and also ran a 6 yrd run for a TD. He was observed hitting the hole quick and with good pad level. Has a very strong lower body and has room to continue to develop.
Came away impressed with Dodd’s running abilities. He runs hard and shows the desire to be physical when defenders attempt to tackle. Does well running the inside lanes and will run through contact at 2nd level. Has good game speed and quick jab step to cut away from defenders. He broke a nice 75 yrd run in the game that showed his desire to finish the run. A RB that will likely be a known recruit in New England by his senior season.
“Bruen had a great game allwing his RB’s to hit the hole quick and fast. His toughness was on display and immediately grabbed my attention. He can bend and didn’t show any stiffness. His foot speed was quick and he finished his blocks to the whistle. He checked all the boxes in physical size. He is ranked as our #7 OL in New England and has a slew of D1 offers including a FBS offer from Temple.
