I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Holden had a great week 1 but I wanted to first say the Washougal offensive line was STELLAR all night long allowing Bea to have a ton of time. The junior was accurate all night and stayed composed in the pocket throughout the game. His 6’2” frame is exactly what a coach wants in his starting QB. He showed off his big arm many times, taking a 3/4 step drop and airing it out to his receivers down the field. He made throws on the run as well, including a big roughly 30 yard pass that landed right in the perfect spot. When the pocket was collapsing, he was able to use his legs and athleticism to get by the defensive line and throw the ball to an open teammate. Holden is going to have a big season this year as a junior and I’ll be excited to watch him all year and next.

Skyler is an extremely talented quarterback. He has great natural instinct, all around the field. He is able to sense when the defensive line is closing him on him, so he scrambles outside the pocket. The throws Skyler makes on the run is absolutely incredible, he’s extremely accurate when rolling to his left or right. His arm is accurate and strong too, as he can sling it down the field while scrambling too. The accuracy was showing all night as he completed 21 of his 24 passes. He threw for 374 yards and an extremely impressive 4 touchdowns. He added another one on the feet for good measure. He’s going to continue to excel with the excellent offensive line and targets he has around him.

Spencer looked calm and collective all night sitting in the pocket. He threw the ball over 40 times, proving that the Mercer Island coaching staff have trust in their junior QB to air it out. Kornblum was confident with his throws, placing them right in the spot it needed to be often times. I even saw him throw in a little side-arm pass to showcase his abilities. He can throw on the run or in the pocket to hit his open receivers all night. He passed for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns, leading the offensive to a productive night. He has the ability to release the ball quickly, doing a quick 2 step drop back and slinging the ball. He should get a lot of passing attempts this season, which could translate into big games and numbers. I’ll be watching closely how this junior plays this season.

Angus is a BIG BODY quarterback and every college coach wants that. Hubbard is extremely confident in the pocket, sitting back and trusting his offensive line to protect him as well as his receivers to get open. When they do, he confidently slings the ball down field to hit his receivers right in the sweet spot. He likes to release the ball fairly quickly, putting the ball in his teammates to make the play. When his number is called to launch the ball, you better believe he will and it will be accurate. Angus will continue to put up numbers as Capital HS is off to a solid start.

Not many people may have known about this seniors MONSTER game week 1 due to him playing 8-man football. He was able to get the job done really well both using his arm and using his feet. Through the air, he went 15/22 with 219 yards passing and 3 passing touchdowns to go along with it. His passes fit right in the pocket where they should have been. Hitting his receivers over the shoulder perfectly many times. The senior’s athleticism shows on the field in many ways. He was able to compile a whopping 328 yards rushing to go along with a crazy 6 rushing touchdowns. 8-man football does put up big scores, but Ortiz putting up 547 yards of total offense to go alone with NINE total touchdowns should not go unrecognized.
