UPREP Continues To Roll Up the Competition

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rochester's University Prep aka UPREP continues to roll up its AA competition so far at the mid way point of the season, and sitting perfect at 4-0! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When Section V decided to move UPREP up to Class AA for the 2022 season and had them open with 3 traditional Section V AA powers (Victor, and Aquinas) they couldn't have imagined this (clean sweep). And one being the 3 time defending Sectional Champions McQuaid Jesuit. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Well all UPREP has done is outscore their opponents 129-71 through four games. And Liverpool of Section III was the latest victim on the UPREP schedule. After a slow by UPREP standard 1st quarter start, where the only touchdown came from [player_tooltip player_id='228007' first='Christopher' last='Jean'] on a fast 83 yard touchdown run. Then came the 2nd quarter and the Griffins exploded for 20 points! [player_tooltip player_id='228007' first='Christopher' last='Jean'] added his 2nd Touchdown on the evening with a 20 yard touchdown run early in the 2nd quarter to extend UPREPs lead to 13-0. And with under two minutes to play in the 2nd quarter the Griffins [player_tooltip player_id='399901' first='Tyrell' last='Simmons'] intercepted a Liverpool pass and raced 53 yards for the pick 6, which pushed UPREPs lead to 19-0. And the final 2nd quarter touchdown for UPREP happened with less than a minute to play before halftime on a [player_tooltip player_id='399900' first='Darius' last='Poles'] 40 yard pick 6 and with the successful 2pt conversion UPREP was up 27-0. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After halftime UPREP took a while to get going, which occurred with three minutes to go in the 3rd quarter when [player_tooltip player_id='228007' first='Christopher' last='Jean'] ripped off his 3rd touchdown of the evening on a blistering 64 yard touchdown run to extend the UPREP lead to 33-0. With backups playing for the Griffins the offense kind of stalled in the 4th quarter and the scoring was none until Liverpool's 10 yard touchdown pass to make the score 33-7. And on the ensuing kickoff [player_tooltip player_id='399900' first='Darius' last='Poles'] broke for a 65 yard kickoff return touchdown to close the scoring at 39-7 and send the Griffins onto their 4th win of the 2022 season and a firm grasp on the #1 seed in Class AA Section V. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And rest assured UPREPs state ranking of #8 in Class AA will improve as well.
