Although just a sophomore, Adam Hageman Adam Hageman 5'10" | 180 lbs | LB Shawnee Mission NW | 2025 State KS is a name you need to bookmark. Hageman plays bigger than his size, and with savvy far beyond his experience. The top tackler in the state through three weeks is highly instinctive, showing excellent patience and anticipation, allowing him to flow to the football and stay one step ahead of blockers. Hageman does a great job operating in traffic. He fearlessly mixes it up linemen that have 30-50 pounds on him, showing excellent quickness and active feet, allowing to evade contact and remain in position to bring down ball carriers. He has a fluid stop/start, allowing him to change direction suddenly, making it very difficult for blockers to wash him out of the play. Hageman is a naturally low tackler, dropping his pads in a blink, consistently driving his legs and arriving with more force than his frame would suggest. It is rare to find a mike backer that looks so natural at the position this early into his high school playing career, but Hageman looks to be the type of prospect that can be the heartbeat of a defense, and will be one of the more intriguing defensive prospects to watch this season.
Jesse Greenly Jesse Greenly 5'11" | 220 lbs | RB Atchison | 2023 State KS IV – Atchison High School, 5’10 210 (PRZ SR RB8)
Greenly may have got lost in the shuffle a bit as part of arguably the strongest senior position group in the state, he has been as dominant as any back in Kansas, to the tune of 447 yards on 53 carries, and 10 scores, and is the type of physical runner that will only get stronger as the season progresses. Greenly is built like a grown man as a high school senior, with tree trunks for legs, he was already arguably the best power back in the state, but this season, he has shown off his sneaky quick feet and shiftiness, combined with improved anticipation and vision that has allowed him to add some creativity to his game. Greenly is now a runner that can make defenders miss in addition to making them make business decisions. He can find secondary rushing lanes to turn losses into first down, and watch out for that deadly dead leg in the open field!
Abe Hilbert – Nemaha Central High School, 6’7 240 (PRZ Unranked JR OL/DL)
An absolute mountain at 17 years old, (that can be a Game of Thrones reference as he’s that level of terrifying) I’m willing to stick my neck out and say that even as a junior with limited football experience, college recruiters will be headed out to Seneca to take a look at this kid sooner rather than later. Hilbert has played mostly on the defensive side of the ball this season, and looked dominant, but there is potential here for an absolute beast of an offensive lineman. On the very first play in his highlight reel from this season was the glimpse into the future, as his upper and lower body worked together, with the country strength you’d expect from a 6’7 240 pound kid from Seneca KS, and effortless knee bend. Hilbert is still raw as a football player, having played basketball, but the folks down in Seneca might have a gem on their hands if he sticks with football.
