In week two – against the New Ulm Eagles, they used an efficient running game and stifling defense to secure a 48-7 victory to keep themselves undefeated. Here are some of the individuals who impressed me on Thursday night.
Elijah Hagen Jordan DL
Hagen was all over the field defensively for the Hubmen. He picked up a sack early. He came down the line of scrimmage to make a tackle for a short gain. Later, the long athlete deflected a pass. He continued to show his athletic ability by making a tackle for a loss in space.
Carson Schoenbauer, Richard Gregory, Luke Dyrhaug Luke Dyrhaug 6'0" | 235 lbs | OL Jordan | 2023 MN , Carsen Hauser, Luke Vogel Luke Vogel 6'3" | 215 lbs | OL Jordan | 2025 MN Jordan OL
Dyrhaug made a nice seal block to set the edge. Schoenbauer sprung his running back around the corner with an excellent seal block. On the next play, Schoenbauer pulled and opened the hole. By the second quarter, this group was starting to dominate. Schoenbauer and Vogel opened a massive hole for a short touchdown run. Later, Gregory and Schoenbauer open another big hole for running back Leo Siekmann. Then they caved in the line’s right side, giving a short corner. Finally, they sprung Siekmann for a 35-yard touchdown run.
Ty Fredrick New Ulm RB/LB
Fredrick was the most impressive player for the Eagles. He made a tackle on the inside for a short gain. Then, he picked up a quarterback sack. The linebacker stuffed a run on the goal line. On offense, he is a tough inside runner. On one run, he picked up three yards, all after contact. Later, his patient run off the left picked up five tough yards.
Leo Siekmann Jordan RB
Siekmann did a little bit of everything for the Hubmen offense. He caught the ball in the flat and broke two tackles to pick up twenty yards. He has excellent vision, cutting back across the formation for an eight-yard gain. He showed speed on both a six-yard touchdown run and a 35-yard touchdown run.
Preston Hochschild Jordan WR/LB
Hochschild came up strong from his linebacker position to make a tackle for a short loss. Then, on the offensive side of the ball, he made a one-handed, diving catch on the sides.
Nate Kes Jordan DB
Kes broke up a deep ball in the middle of the field. Then, he made a highlight reel play to increase his team’s lead. He returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. During the return, he jumped over a tackler, cut across the field, scoring heading down the opposite sideline as he started.
Gavin Lloyd Jordan QB
Lloyd didn’t have to make a ton of plays, but he has a strong enough arm to throw a deep out – which resulted in a touchdown. He can improvise and pick up yards with his feet. He showed his arm strength was not a fluke with another strong throw to the outside. Not just a runner once out of the pocket, Lloyd continued to show a strong arm with a completion on the run.
James Osborne New Ulm DB
Osborne stopped an early Jordan drive with an interception on the goal line. He showed skill in the open field with a long interception return. Deeper into the game, he broke up a pass on a deep ball.
David Sipes Jordan DL
Sipes showed strength when he penetrated up the middle to make a tackle for loss. Then, he showed his quickness and agility with an open-field tackle in the flat.
Jack Olson Jordan WR/DB
On defense, Olson deflected a pass on a deep post. On offense, he caught a touchdown pass.
Brock Bakeberg Jordan WR/LB
Bakeberg made a catch on a deep out to pick up a third and long. Defensively, he generated a good outside pass rush.
Carter Runge Jordan WR
Runge has good length and a good catch radius. He used that length to make a catch on the outside. After securing the ball, he threw out a stiff arm for extra yards.
Cameron Carpenter New Ulm LB
Carpenter made a tackle for a short gain on the goal line. Then, he dropped a running back for a five-yard loss.
