Who were they?
Let’s take a look…
Sammy Brown Sammy Brown 6'2" | 225 lbs | ATH Jefferson | 2024 State GA – Jefferson
One of the top overall prospects in the entire country for the 2024 class, Brown is an elite two-way player for the Jefferson Dragons who makes play after play wherever he’s lined up. He dominated in a tough week one loss to Alpharetta, and he came back with a vengeance in a week two win over Wren (SC), making 10 tackles and recording one INT in the win. He’s a ball-magnet with incredible instincts at linebacker and proved why he’s a consensus 5-star prospect. He’s smart, tough, great against the run, and obviously knows how to cover. He’s an outstanding linebacker prospect due to his overall size and speed at 6-foot-2 225-pounds with toughness and aggressiveness. He was all over the field and gave one of the best defensive performances across the state.
CJ Allen CJ Allen 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Lamar County | 2023 State GA – Lamar County
One of the top linebacker prospects across the state, Allen, like Brown is a big, strong linebacker who runs really well for his size at 6-foot-1 220-pounds. He covers a lot of ground, he’s physical, and knows how to deliver a big hit. He’s a true football player and an “old school” linebacker type who just runs and hits. Going up against a talented Upson-Lee team, the Georgia Bulldog commitment made 17 tackles in the close 21-20 victory. He gets off blocks, he’s fast, instinctual, and plays the game the right way. He’s a true game-changer on defense and dominated on Friday night. He has a true nose for the ball and and proved it in week two, giving one of the top performances from any linebacker in the state.
Stephen Johnson Stephen Johnson 6'4" | 310 lbs | DL Whitewater | 2023 State GA – Whitewater
One of the top defensive line prospects in the state, the big 6-foot-4 320-pounder has a monster week two game last weekend, making 9 tackles and 4 TFLs in a big 33-15 victory. He dominated on the interior, closing running lanes and chasing down the ball-carrier. He moves well for someone his size and his overall strength is easy to see. The Arkansas Razorbacks commitment lived in the backfield and proved that he’s one of the top overall defensive line prospects in the 2023 class. He’s big, physical, and quick off the ball.
Tyler Atkinson Tyler Atkinson 6'3" | 185 lbs | LB Grayson | 2026 State GA OLB – Grayson
He might be a freshman, but make no mistake, Atkinson is a dynamic defender who knows how to get into the backfield. The 6-foot-3 190-pounder was all over the field in week two and proved why he has 5-star potential with a monster game. The freshman sensation tallied 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks and five QB pressures. His length and athleticism made him tough to block all night and he proved to be a sure-tackler all night long. He showed a great motor, an impressive spin-move and the ability to consistently make plays. He has a nose for the football and he’s already making a giant impact for one of the most talented defenses across the state. Look for Atkinson to have a 5-star freshman season this fall.
