Top Dawgs of Week 4: Houston Area

A few of these players did not get the outcome they wanted as a team, but played their hearts out and showed no signs of defeat. Rutherford was on one, hitting his receivers left and right with great zip on the ball. His arm continues to impress and his composure on the field keeps his teammates locked. Rutherford caught my eyes with his physical running ability as well. He lowered his shoulder on a few defenders on the night and finished runs with strength and power. His movement, breaking to the outsides, following his blocks, and making defenders miss in tight spaces was impressive. Ojiaku showed very good vision and delivered nasty stiff arms to gain extra yards. He runs with great physicality paired with elusiveness, and put it on display on Friday. He just has a nose for the ball and from his outside backer position, shows the speed and quickness to chase a play down from the back side. McKey looked good dropping into coverage, then redirecting to where the ball was. He was strong on his tackles and gave little ground when engaged with blocks. The run heavy offense is a challenge for every defense they come across, but Ford and the Mustangs held their own for awhile. Ford at his inside backer position was taking on blocks the entire night but found a way to get to the ball carrier. He was making stops when engaged and found his way to running lanes before backs reached it. Lucius showed great speed off the snap and was a sure tackler. He diagnosed plays quickly and was decisive in his decisions. Lucius finsihed the game with 11 tackles, 3 TFLs, and a sack.
