There were many teams with impressive Week 1 Wins that further proved themselves this week, as well as 0-1 team that impressively clawed their way to 1-1. So now, let’s look at the Most Impressive Wins, our Player of the Week, Team of the Week, and recruiting news!
Most Impressive Wins This Week
Alpena 18 Marquette 16 – Marquette is usually one of the strongest team in the North, and they’re usually a consistent playoff team. Great win for Jake Zann Jake Zann 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Alpena | 2024 State MI and Alpena against a team that was heavily favored.
Clarkston 62 Southfield A&T 56 – An amazing bounce-back to Clarkston’s Week 1 loss against Davison.
Corunna 35 Pinckney 28 – A great win for an impressive D5 team over a equally good D3 team.
Grand Haven 49 TC West 21 – A beatdown for Grand Haven after a questionable week 1 performance. This win impresses me.
Grandville 45 Byron Center 27 – Grandville is a sneaky-good team in the OK-Red that now has 2 impressive wins against great teams.
West Ottawa 21 Portage Northern 10 – The Panthers haven’t looked this good in a very long time.
Petoskey 43 Bay City Western 17 – Petoskey has a great defense led by CJ Hibbler CJ Hibbler 5'8" | 160 lbs | ATH Petoskey | 2024 State MI . His stats have been through the roof.
Rockford 31 Mona Shores 27 – Down 27-7 late in the 3rd Quarter, Rockford pulled off a monumental comeback.
Reeths-Puffer 34 St. Johns 14 – Even though RP won against this team 19-6 last season, you can really see the 21′-22′ improvement here.
Troy Athens 42 Berkley 6 – Either I’ve severely underestimated Athens or overestimated Berkley. Perhaps both.
Zeeland West 28 Cedar Springs 0 – I’m high on both of these teams, and honestly, I would have picked Cedar Springs to win this one. Great shutout win for the Dux.
DET Catholic Central 44 Davison 34 – Very impressive win for DCC after Davison handled Clarkston last week. DCC is an extremely strong team.
East Kentwood 19 Brother Rice 17 – After a close loss to Muskegon a week ago, EK gets one of their most impressive wins in a while.
Oxford 17 Groves 14 – Amazing win and amazing moment for Oxford’s first home game of the season.
Lapeer 56 Traverse City Central 42 – The Lightning earn a win against the 2021 DII Runner-Up. This team is good.
De La Salle 49 Muskegon 16 – Stock up for DLS and stock down for Muskegon. Big day for Drogosh and Nichols, while Mason Muragin Mason Muragin 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL De La Salle | 2023 State MI bullied the Muskegon O-Line.
