Superb Seniors: Showing Out in the Lone Star State

Week 5 is in the books, and halfway through the season, some unheralded seniors are leaving an impression on Friday nights.   In this article, we'll take a look at a senior WR in San Antonio who is turning some heads, a dual threat QB in Conroe who needs to be on recruiting boards, and an offensive lineman in Fort Worth with Group of Five potential.   WR Darian Holmes – 6'3″ 200 / San Antonio Warren HS — @DarianHolmes19   Holmes is a big-bodied X receiver that presents a matchup problem on the outside. He shines in the red zone, as he can wall off cornerbacks and high point the football with the best of 'em. Has the size and should do well against press coverage on the next level, and has a chance to develop into a standout. Must get more explosive, however.   Currently has no offers.   QB Javarious Hatchett – 5'10″ 190 / Conroe HS — @Sh0woutJv   Hatchett may get recruited as an athlete due to his size, but there's no denying his impact on the football field. As a quarterback, he shows excellent timing and an ability to throw his receivers open on deep balls. As a runner is where he is most dangerous. Once he gets to the second level, he can make defenders miss and turn a broken play into a big one. Potential to become a quality starter for a smaller program.   Currently has no offers.   OT [player_tooltip player_id='131966' first='John' last='Taplett'] – 6'4″ 270 / Southwest Christian HS — @John_Taplett   Taplett is an athletic offensive tackle with great footwork. He dominates at the point of attack in the run game and keeps his quarterback clean in pass protection. Really excels in outside zone situations and is just a force to be reckoned with in the private school ranks. Has definite Group of Five potential.   Currently has three FCS offers.     RB [player_tooltip player_id='131827' first='Aundre' last='Minnifield'] – 6'0″ 190 / All Saints Episcopal — @AundreMinnifie1   Minnifield is showing again this season that he is a no nonsense, downhill runner that means business. He flashes some explosiveness and wiggle in the open field, but just reminds me of an old school, hard-nosed back that will run you over if you get in his way.   Currently has an FCS offer from Georgetown.     ATH Jayvont Williams – 6'1″ 185 / All Saints Episcopal — @JayvontWilliams   Williams is an exceptional athlete who lines up all over the field for All Saints. He's a talented wideout who runs precise routes, has above-average explosiveness, and can turn a short slant into a house call. When he's at cornerback, he closes quickly and has top-notch ball skills. Also has fluid hips and a smoothness in his transition that is great to see on tape.   Has a slew of FCS offers, including Jackson State. His lone FBS offers are from Navy and Army.
