Every week it seems Kienholz goes out and does something that was even more impressive than the last week and make no mistake he did it again. In a dominating win for his team over Mitchell, Kienholz was slinging the pig skin and well did it with ruthless levels of confidence and efficiency. The entire season Kienholz has been showing to be the top QB and he backed that up with some games. He threw for 388 total passing yards and that is on top of doing on top a nearly 70% compilations rate with it resting at a great 69.6%. It is great to see him go out there and every game perform so well but what he seems to be doing is having fun while he plays the game, and just loves the game as a student of it. He linked with his receivers that have been safety blankets throughout to start the year and that was no different on this night. He had counted it, 6 total passing touchdowns on top of the fire he threw in the air, a great QB performance, and one that Kienholz make it seem like it is just another day at the office for him and Governors. This makes him the Stars and Studs of South Dakota Player of the Week for his passing game which is second to none right and just how well he seems to be doing it.
Final Stat Line – 16/23, 388 Passing Yards, 6 TDs, 151.7 QBR
Jacob Remmers – RB/LB, McCook Central-Montrose
Remmers was a beast running the football this past and his numbers are simply crazy for what he did out there on the field. Remmers excels as a power back who can throw defenders off him like no other and that is exactly what he did in this past game. Rushing for a total of 229 yards on 33 attempts, while he did not go on many big runs, he grinded the defense and worked for every yard that he was trying to gain that game. 7 yards per carrying on average is nothing that you should scoff and it shows he well he controlled his ability to break through and manage the defense front that he was butting heads with all game. He laid down some blocks for his QB and WRs when it was needed as well and was regarded as a team player throughout the game with his stellar performance. Adding on to that a total of 4 touchdowns, this was a fantastic performance from the back who needs some more light shined on his game and for his school who had a great win this past week. Impressive to say the least, let’s see if he can keep it and keep wearing out this defense like what he does best.
Final Stat Line – 33 Rushes, 229 Rushing yards, 4 TDs
Chase Van Tol Chase Van Tol 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB Tea Area | 2023 State – RB/LB, Tea Area
I keep going over the end of the game that Tea had and it was just something out of a storybook with how textbook it got at the end. Small school vs Big on a tip drill pass by the running back, Hollywood could not ask for a better script if they wanted it. Van Tol was the hero of this game and he did in just about every way that he could, on both the offense and the defense. In Tea’s upset win over the Knights, the running back core was the key facet to establishing victory and giving the Titans a big upset that they were looking for. Van Tol was part of that running back core that helped keep the Titans in the game until they took the lead late in the fourth quarter. Van Tol was solid rushing being in tandem with Blake Thompson Blake Thompson 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Tea Area | 2023 State who rushed well in his own right. Van Tol rushed for a total of 13 times with that garnering a total of 116 yards with a rushing touchdown with that. On defense he made some big tackles for his team and filled the stat sheet on that side of the ball with a total of 8 tackles and a TFL. Van Tol had the dagger to seal the game for the Knights with a 80 yard touchdown pass to his receiver that was tipped up in the air and caught by the TItan’s. This electrified the players and spectators watching the game, shifting much of the momentum in the favor of the Titans. Van Tol did a little bit of everything that was needed in his teams against the ever crafty Knights, and Van Tol has etched his name into Tea history with one of the most clutch players and passes that we will ever see.
Final Stat Line – 13 Rushes, 116 Rushing Yards, 1/1 80 Passing Yards, 1 Rushing Touchdown, 1 Passing Touchdown, 8 Tackles, and 1 TFL.
Abraham Myers Abraham Myers 6'4" | 215 lbs | DL Sioux Falls Washington | 2023 State – DL, Sioux Falls Washington
Watching Myers work in the trenches of the D-Line is just poetry in motion, swift, sweet, and something you do not see much of anymore. Myers was fantastic in his team’s performance against a cross-town rival in Sioux Falls Roosevelt and his stat sheet was stuffed with all of the things that he did on the field. Put it this way, no one had a remote shot of anything of even trying to provide any kind of containment on the Myers and the offensive line struggled to keep his strength and size away from their QB. He racked 4.5 sacks for his team, which at the defensive tackle positions makes those sacks even more impressive with his constant being jammed on the inside and facing some tough interior blocking. No running backs were getting by Myers and he made sure of that by stuffing the run and making anyone who even thought about going up the middle think twice when they saw him waiting for them. Add on to that another tackle for a loss and 8 tackles as a whole for his team, and it shows that Myers is so highly regarded. He lived up to the hype and more with his performance and makes even more of a threat to all QBs in South Dakota. Watch out for Myers from here on out, he looked like he had a chip on his shoulder, and watching him play with such fierceness and tenacity, I would not want to be the QB waiting for him in the backfield.
Final Stat Line – 4.5 Sacks, 5.5 TFL’s, 8 Tackles
