Sam Uhing – WR/FS, Sioux Falls Washington
Watching some film of Uhing shows me a few things off the bat with what he can bring to the table and with some fine tuning can become truly great at it. He mainly gets snap at to main positions right now and pretty consistently at that with both sides of the ball. On the offense side of the ball, he is a prototypical style of wideout who is great at running what he needs to and not much outside of that. That is just what he does best, fitting into the offensive role of doing what his team needs him to do. I like his attitude when I see him on the field and shows a lot of qualities of a natural leader which is something that you always want to see at a young age. On defense, he is quick and agile in his plays on the ball and makes good tackles along with some great fundamentals at his level. He will be someone I will keep on a list of players to see where they are going in the next few years.
Cael Nofziger – QB/OLB, Sioux Falls Jefferson
Nofziger is showing some real flashes of potential when I see him take some snaps, especially when I see him behind center on the offense. Nofziger has shown some real talent when it comes to being a dual-threat QB and what he does have is the ability to not only outrun defenders but juke them out at the same time. He loves to be part of bootleg or play action plays where he can use his legs to run so that he can run out if the pocket breaks down. The arm is not quite there yet but he makes some great throws when his reads are open and makes the smart plays that his team needs him to win. With some more work on his passing game, I see him as someone who can be a true threat as a QB on both sides of the offensive factor. On defense, he fits in as a coverage linebacker who can rush the QB at times with the speed that he has. While he is taking snaps here, I do not see him playing defense for most of his time at SFJ but I do see him as someone who can be a very talented QB for his team.
Nofziger Tape
Uriah Miller – WR/CB, Sioux Falls Lincoln
Miller has something that he can use no matter what position that he will slot into the future with that being how he can use his speed and acceleration to move at quite a fast rate. On offense he is your normal idea of what a slot wideout is and how he can do that to beat defenders in one on one coverage, He seems to struggle with the defensive zone packages at times but that is something that you see at this level in South Dakota and he will learn over time how to beat it. On the CB level, he is someone who keeps up with those fast wideouts and he makes them work for every pass that is thrown their way. What he does is pester them and make them dread every time that he matches up with them. As he plays against more talent it will be seen if he can keep up with them and see what he does when he is under the pressure of that scenario, and I will be watching to see how he rises up to handle it.
Michael Sheffield – QB, Rapid City Stevens
Sheffield while undersized for him playing the QB position plays with a high motor and with some great grit as he does it throughout the game. Sheffield does not let anything including his own physical attributes get in the way as he goes out on the field and runs all over anyone who tries to stop him. He is quite hard to tackle when he gets running and that is where we see his biggest strength come in, the ability to evade defenders at quite a high level. It is great to see him play with such heart and how well he does it, his ability to see his awareness in the pocket shows how he is simply a student of the game. The raw talent that he has is something that you just do not see often and if he keeps working on his game, I see him becoming one of the better QBs that South Dakota has in the future.
