Begeman was doing what he does and that was running over everyone in the field and he sure did that with the numbers that he put on the field last week. Begeman is someone who every week will tuck his nose down and play like an old-school rusher who cares about one thing and that is about advancing the ball until you can’t do that anymore. He was the lead rusher for his team and did it efficiently, he had a total of 19 carries that netted him a total of 224 yards as a whole. He was the offense for his team like he is most games and he does it so well. He might not go off the biggest runs or be the fastest but use his upper body and strength to make anyone move out of his way. Add on to that 4 rushing touchdowns, he was an offensive star this week and he sure shined bright when it mattered most.
Jack Smith Jack Smith 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD – WR, Sioux Falls Lincoln
Smith was cooking last week and while his team did not have it end as they want, Smith was someone who tried to make that not happen. Smith was the first option for his QB all game and sure earned his trust with what he was doing, put simply he could not be contained by anyone in the Knights’ secondary. Smith is a versatile WR who can lineup outside, inside, or even the slot depending on the play design, this allows him to exploit the holes he finds. Exploit them he sure did by having 13 catches last week with those going for 235 yards overall and having 2 receiving TDs. He was the key facet that allowed the offense to keep pace throughout the game with his big gains and burning defenders along the way. Smith did everything in his power to will his team to a win but you can only do so much, but do not discredit what he out on the field since it was one of the best of the week.
Tyson Stevenson – QB, Hamlin
Stevenson was perfect in this game while slinging the pig skin at a high level and he was perfect in a few other rights of the game. Stevenson plays in what is usually a run-heavy offense which means more often than he will not be throwing the ball much and have limited chances to influence the game at times. While that was also true in this game, he made every pass count when he had the chance to help his team secure the W. He was 9-9 for in his passing attempts which netted him 216 total passing yards which might not be much he got 5 passing touchdowns out of them. Stevenson manages the game very well and can make the throws that he needs to when it matters most for his team and that is exactly what he did. He unloaded for some big throws which helped that yards total and get him some of those passing touchdowns that he had. Stevenson looked chipper and happy to get the win for this team and shows how great his attitude that he has, that he might do this every game but when he does, he’ll be hyped to do it.
Maverick Jones Maverick Jones 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Sioux Falls O'Gorman | 2024 State SD – RB, O’Gorman
Jones had a big night last week and while it might be the case of the stats that he had, it was also for the external records that he broke this game. Jones had set the Knights’ single-game rushing record and he did it in impressive fashion. This was a surprise to some who see the Knights as a pass-heavy team that likes to air the ball out but Jones decided that was not going to be the case this game. Jones racked 269 total yards which set the single-game record for Knights and this rushing performance was the big reason why saw the Knights come out with the victory last week, Jones 2 rushing touchdowns were crucial as Sioux Falls Lincoln flirted with a comeback at the end but Jones sealed the deal with everything he did in this game. With what Jones did with his numbers and moreover, with the records that he had set, he is this week’s South Dakota Offensive Player of the Week, well deserved and earned for the talented RB.
