This year has started off the same way. There are some great RBs who are holding it down in the Magnolia State this year. Here are a few.
Dante Dowdell Dante Dowdell 6'2" | 215 lbs | RB Picayune Memorial | 2023 State MS , Picayune, 2023
I think we all knew this thing would start off with him. He has been rolling around this season. I think he is a little under 300 total rushing yards on the season. In both of their games this year he has been packing a mean punch. He is not a guy that defenders want to tackle for a full 48 minutes of football. The guys has gotten bigger and stronger. Those runs are very hard to stop this year.
Chris Davis Chris Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Picayune | 2024 State MS , Picayune, 2024
Chris has been nothing short of amazing this year. He has literally hit the ground running every game. This young man has a way of finding the hole and getting through it before his opponents can even blink. His 4.3 speed helps him get to the sideline and turn the corner for major yards. He has also been receiving a lot of messages from colleges since Sept 1st. This young man is set to have a major season running the football for Picayune.
Jalen Washington Jalen Washington 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Houston | 2024 State MS , Houston, 2024
Jalen is already at 300 plus yards on the season. Remember last year he put up 2008 yards with only 9 games under his belt. Their first two games of the season was canceled due to Covid reasons. I can only imagine how many yards he will put up this season. The guy simply has a way of being very elusive. He is also a powerful RB that knows how to bring the bang with his plays. This could be another 2000 yard season for him.
John Peterson, Vancleave
In two games Mr. Peterson has already accumulated for over 600 yards. I think we are definitely set for a historic season coming from this young man. This guy is putting up some major yards and is doing it with ease. Vancleave loves to run the ball so it won’t surprise me to witness them with a 3000 yard rusher two years back to back. Keep an eye out for John Peterson.
Caden Arrington, Laurel, 2023
Caden has helped his squad out a lot in these last two weeks. The man is around 400 yards and is getting the job done. He also knows how to find the end zone. This isn’t a guy who just gets hard yards. He knows how to get some yonder making plays to help his team win. A low running hard nosed guy that looks to move with ease. He is going to be a problem in 5A throughout the whole season. Mark my words on that.
Isaac Smith Isaac Smith 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Itawamba Agricultural | 2023 State MS , Itawamba, 2023
Yes we all know that Isaac is going to school to be a safety. That does not change the fact that he is out here being a bully every time he gets the ball out of the backfield. This man knows how to run the rock. He is being real abusive when he makes contact. You can go to his Twitter page right now and see where he recently made a tweet about how much he loves contact. This isn’t a guy I want to have to tackle all night. He is just downright mean.
