Plymouth VS Northville: Game Recap

On Thursday, September 1st, the Mustangs of Northville traveled to Plymouth High School to face off against the Wildcats. Its funny because in the wild, Cats hunt their prey quietly… on Thursday it might have been to quietly. This Mustang ball club has a chip on their shoulder and hunger in their eyes this season. I got a chance to really watch these teams in action… Here's a game recap from this match-up.   The first quarter we had ourselves a ball game… both teams feeling each other out and no real advantage towards one side. That's until, Northville's Junior RB, Caleb Moore, decided to punch one in from 13 yards out to end the first quarter. After the Moore TD, the Mustangs starting to look like race horses in the second quarter. Senior QB, [player_tooltip player_id='300493' first='Luca' last='Prior'], connected with his Junior WR, Nick Helner, for a 30 yard dot… Prior also added a 1 yard QB keep for a score to add to the Mustangs tally. Plymouth's Senior RB, Evan Cosgrove, also punch in an 8 yard TD in the second to help put the Cats on the board. Northville up 22-7 going into the half.   The third quarter was a defensive battle… neither team giving an inch. The only score that happened was off the foot of Northville's Senior Kicker, Sam Wiest. Wiest banged in a 42 yarder and honestly had enough leg for way more… putting Northville up 25-7 to end the 3rd. Plymouth showed life throughout the second half… just penalties keep dragging them behind the sticks. Plymouth's 2024 RB, [player_tooltip player_id='429352' first='Jaxon' last='McCaig'], ran hard and earned tough yards the whole evening with 17 carries for 67 yards. Wildcats' Junior RB, Nathan Gillick, came in later in the game and showed some real burst as well… earning himself 45 yards on just 6 carries.   In the fourth, [player_tooltip player_id='300493' first='Luca' last='Prior'] found Senior WR, Angelo Rodriguez, for a 48 yard bomb for six!!!! On 3rd and 18 none the less… really just taking the wind out of Plymouth's sails. Northville scored one more TD late with their second string in making the final: 39-7 Northville. Northville takes on the Highlander of Howell next week. The Wildcats take on their cross campus rivals, Canton Chiefs.
