Lucas Slack Lucas Slack 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Brandon Valley | 2023 State – QB, Brandon Valley
Brandon Valley has been hitting its stride these past few weeks and that is no part of the offense that is clicking on all levels with Slack being a key piece in that. Slack has been improving every game this season and that is in part to what seems to adapt to the schemes that teams are trying to use to stop. Last week Brandon Valley kicked it into another gear and that was in no small part to what Slack put out on the field with the great passing attack that he put on field. He has been linking up with all of his wideouts quite well recently and I do not see any inkling of stopping at all. Slack has some great dual-threat capabilities and with how he has been playing recently, I am looking to see him go off this upcoming weekend and I think he will not disappoint in this game.
Jack Detert Jack Detert 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Harrisburg | 2023 State – LB, Harrsiburg
Detert had a great game last week and seemed to be in rhythm with how well he was playing on defense and I see him rolling into next week with that same mindset. He seemed to have a spike in confidence this past week with being a force on the defensive, he used the big plays that he made to his advantage and is rolling. Detert is such a versatile linebacker with what he can do and it is something that you just love to see play out on the field. At the end of the last game, Detert walked off the field with a level of swagger that I did not see before but this week I think that he is going to play at the level and more with what he did. His abilities and otherwise talents are something that you do not see in coverage linebackers line Detert but with his ability as a deflating force, he will make the offense know that he is ready to make big hits and even bigger stops.
Aiden Heimann Aiden Heimann 5'11" | 155 lbs | DB Aberdeen Central | 2023 State – DB, Aberdeen Central
I have liked what Heimann has in skills as a defensive back even more so in the matchup that he is going to be facing in Huron. What Aberdeen has is a great defense that can stop the run and do that with such a high level. This is where we see Heimann come into play with his skills, the Huron offense is a legit run-first team that can attack at such a high level and the ball will need to be thrown into the air. Heimann can lock down just about any receiver that he can match up with and with Huron looking to the run for most of the game, do not expect many wideouts to be open this game. Aberdeen’s upfront will do their job and stop the elite running game that Huron has and Heimann will do what he does best, hawk receivers and make their life hard.
Jack Merkwan Jack Merkwan 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Pierre | 2023 State – WR, Pierre
Merkwan is one of my favorite receivers to watch tape of in South Dakota and that is because of how big and strong he is along with how he can use that to make defenders’ life not very fun. He has a great offense around him but he is the main piece that his star QB looks to and it seems that he is due for a big game. He has had plenty of big games this year but what with the matchups that he will be facing this week, look for him to exploit secondaries that do not want to put defenders on him. Merkwan is someone that is just so good that he will have big games just about every week but look for him to be in the end zone a few times and racking up so many yards throughout the game.
