We are going to shine a spotlight on some prospects that have started off the 2022 season in impressive fashion. The entire state is well represented with the talent being seen on Friday nights this season. Let’s take a look at who has been lighting up the Friday nights up to this point in the season.
Marshon Jordan Marshon Jordan 5'11" | 205 lbs | LB Pine Bluff | 2025 AR -Linebacker-White Hall-2025
To start the season, Jordan has been all over the field for White Hall. He uses his speed well and is always around the ball carrier. Jordan leads the state in tackles with 76 tackles on the season. He does not quit on a play and is always in a good position to make the tackle. Jordan is a player to watch out for over the next couple of seasons. The young man has the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.
Jabrae Shaw Jabrae Shaw 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Little Rock Mills | 2023 State AR -Athlete-Little Rock Mills-2023
Jabrae Shaw Jabrae Shaw 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Little Rock Mills | 2023 State AR is one prospect that never quits working and is always striving to get better. He has come out on fire to start the season this season. Through the first half of the season, the Little Rock Mills defensive back leads the state in interceptions with five. With numerous scholarships offers to his credit, Shaw is closing out his high school career in impressive fashion and I expect the drive to continue for the talented Little Rock Mills prospect.
Grant Karnes Grant Karnes 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2025 State AR -Wide Receiver-Greenwood-2025
The Greenwood Bulldogs have a history of producing talented wide receivers. Grant Karnes Grant Karnes 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2025 State AR is having a tremendous season for the Bulldogs this season. At this point in the season, Karnes has racked up 614 receiving yards to go along with 10 touchdown receptions. Both Greenwood and Karnes appear to be clicking on all cylinders. Keep an eye on Karnes over the next couple of years, he is just getting warmed up.
Achilles Ringo-Quarterback-Little Rock Mills-2024
The Mills Comets are dangerous on both sides of the ball. Achilles Ringo is having an impressive 2022 season. The Mills signal caller is 87-of-129 for 1,581 yards and 15 touchdowns. He does an excellent job of keeping his eyes down the field and is always looking for his receivers. Ringo is not afraid to use his legs to pick up yardage and he has done a great job this season. Look for Ringo and the Comets as the playoffs draw near.
Dennis Gaines Dennis Gaines 5'10" | 165 lbs | RB East Poinsett County | 2024 State AR -Running Back-East Poinsett County-2024
Dennis Gaines Dennis Gaines 5'10" | 165 lbs | RB East Poinsett County | 2024 State AR came into this season determined to put big numbers and has not disappointed a bit. Gaines does a great job of allowing the rushing lane to develop and then exploding through the hole. He currently leads the state in rushing yards with 1,041 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. Gaines is a prospect with the potential to play on Saturdays in the future, the longer the game goes the better he runs the football.
Derrick Murdock Derrick Murdock 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Little Rock Southwest | 2024 State AR -Linebacker-Little Rock Mills-2024
As we have said above, the Mills Comets have talented players all over the football field. Derrick Murdock Derrick Murdock 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Little Rock Southwest | 2024 State AR is a linebacker that folks need to start paying attention to this season. Murdock currently leads the state in sacks with seven. He lives in the offensive backfield, and he is having a breakout season for the Comets this season. Keep an eye on him he has the potential to have a season where he gets double digits on the sacks.
