Picayune vs JDC Pre Game Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It is a lot of friendly trash talking going on about this game. So much that we have decided to go down this week and attend this game. This is a 3A vs 5A showdown that is very big game in southern MS. Both teams are familiar with winning championships. Even though JDC is the smaller school they do not plan to lose.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2><strong>Picayune </strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We all know Picayune can run the rock. They had three players who all accumulated for more than 3500 yards rushing last season. When I watched a few of their highlights against Poplarville I noticed their QB threw a dime in his first game starting. That will be very scary for defenses who have to play them. I expect Picayune to be a lot more versatile this year on third down. Expect them to try to get into situations where they don't have to gain more than three or four yards to advance for four more downs. Them being able to throw the ball will open up the field for them. This gives them a lot more options to keep the chains moving.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='108971' first='Dante' last='Dowdell'] is going to bring all he has to the game. You can expect him to be making hard tough runs that you can feel through your TV screen. Dante is a beast at finding the hole, exploding to gain yards. This year he has became better catching the ball out of the backfield. His approach is very serious this year. Dante means business and he will be running with a lot of steam tonight. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='344053' first='Chris' last='Davis'] will be the guy that hurts you. If you let Chris get going early the game is going to be hard to control. He is a guy that you want to try to keep contained. Don't let him pop off any of those quick big runs that he is known for. It sounds easier said than done, but you have to try and do it. Don't let him hurt you on that wheel route. He has good hands and his 4.3 speed is tried and true.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Picayune's defense is going to be fast, aggressive and disciplined. You can expect for them to be flying to the football tonight for four quarters. They are going to be hitting very hard. They are used to seeing the run a lot so tonight they are going to be very excited to see JDC's wing t. Let's revisit the word disciplined again. They do not need to get settled in on the wing t. Let's talk about that a little later.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2><strong>JDC</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team consists of Prentiss and Bassfield combined. Two programs that were good. Bassfield was known for betting bigger schools before they closed the doors for the last time. Tonight is not new territory to them. They are coming to the game ready to play football. They don't fear any team. They love to play they game. They live to play great competition every week. Lance Mancuso does not fix light schedules. He makes his guys bow up.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Eli Viniard is the topic I was saying let's get back to two paragraphs ago. This kid is playing in a wing t and college coaches are interested in him coming to sling the rock at their schools. Picayune does not need to get settled in on running plays. I don't want to sound repetitive, however that is the truth. Eli can make any throw on the field. He definitely can get the RPO system rolling. He excels throwing the ball on the run. I would not be surprised with any tricks that their team has up their sleeve. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='340751' first='Nick' last='Thompson'] is going to be toting the ball with aggression tonight. Yes he loves contact. Yes he loves to throw big blows. NO you will not bring him down with arm tackles. I suggest wrapping up when hitting this guy. Don't get complacent if you get a big hit on him. He is coming back with a mean punch all night. He loves contact and it makes him play tougher. Their offense is full of tough RBs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>JDC is going to be playing tough on defense. They are aggressive just like Picayune they will be flying to the football ready to make some blows. They aren't going to be scared of Dante and Chris. They are going to be ready to come up and make some hits all night. We are set for a good football game in Jefferson Davis County.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
