When I say that Heminger did just about everything this game, I truly mean that he played just about every snap for his team and did that on both offense and defense. Where should I even start with what Heminger did this game, going 3 for 5 for 37 yards in a run heavy offense does not look the best but he did add a touchdown out of that. But quarterback is not where he performed, he did it everywhere else. To start he only had 6 rushing yards but also added on a rushing touchdown with that bringing his touchdown total for the night up to two. Heminger also was the punt returner on Friday with that he had two returns and had racked up a total of 88 yards and put his team in great field position just about every time they had the ball. While he only had managed one total tackle what he did do was give some lockdown coverage for his team who had a victory of 52-0 in a dominating win, and what he did was have two interceptions which were returned for a combine total of 87 yards and had two passes defended to tack on to that. Heminger played out of his mind and was a key reason why his team had such a great win and did a little bit of everything last night.
Blake Thompson Blake Thompson 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Tea Area | 2023 State – RB, Tea Area
Thompson was the key back in the rushing attack a Tea Area team that is riding the wave and just playing their style of football every step of the way. Tea loves to ground and pound throughout the game, and that was no different than what they did yesterday. Thompson had rushed for a total of 73 yards and he added on a rushing TD with that. With Tea Area rushing for a total of 229 yards total, Thompson accounted for just around 1/3 of the team’s total rushing attack something to which he is no stranger. Not to mention had also tallied some receiving yards to boot on and had a receiving touchdown that only sealed the deal of how great he played on Friday. Oh and not to mention Tea had another running back throw a touchdown this week and that was Thompson, it seems like they what happened last week and wanted to do it again, clearly it worked.
Dylan Elrod Dylan Elrod QB Harrisburg | 2023 State – QB, Harrisburg
Elrod was otherworldly when he was taking snaps behind the center and it showed when he was dicing up anyone that was trying to stop him on the defensive side of the ball. Elrod was throwing lasers for his Harrisburg and he was simply in sync with everyone that was catching passing from him all game. He had racked up a total of 370 passing yards and did with pretty good accuracy on 28 for 37. The big part of the game that Elrod had brought was throwing passes deep and linking up with his receivers in the open field to set up a great field position not only for him but his team as a whole. That factor had led Elrod to have a total of five passing touchdowns to round out the night where the defenders could not stop him. With nearly throwing for 400 yards and five touchdowns on top of that, Elrod put everything out there on the field and he sure showed us why he is a QB that needs more attention in South Dakota.
Nate Andresen Nate Andresen 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Brandon Valley | 2023 State – WR, Brandon Valley
Just wow, I thought Andresen had some good matchups going into yesterday and he simply blew anyone that tried to guard him out of the water. Andresen was electric in every sense of the word and his play on the field was simply great to watch, he was playing out there with so much effort and he did while he seemed to be having the time of his life celebrating with his teammates. Andresen had a total of seven catches on the night and he racked up a total of 207 yards, where in this game he was no stranger to wanting to make the big play every chance that he got. He used his size and speed to simply make defensive backs pay for trying to stop him and he made sure his presence was known on the field. He was great in every aspect of the receiving game tonight and showed us why he is a top wideout, he added onto everything that he did with a total of 3 receiving touchdowns generating much of the total offensive output for his team. Whatever college gets this kid is going to have a dynamic and explosive player who works hard, plays harder, and has the traits to keep elevating his game to the next level and I for one am excited to see just how high his ceiling can go. With how well Brandon Valley played and was operating as a team, they are only making their case more well known as one of the most dangerous teams in South Dakota and Andresen showed us what happens when an offense is firing on all cylinders.
