Forest Hills Central (2-0) @ Byron Center (1-1)
The FHC Rangers are 2-0 nad cruising, outscoring opponents 71-14 thus far. Ty Hudkins will be interesting to watch agaisnt a balanced run-pass BC offense , while JT Hartman leads the rushing attack.
As for Byron Center, the Bulldogs head into this one following a tough loss to a excellent Grandville team. Hunter Schichtel, Brady Breit, and Jason Sevigny are the trio to watch for the Bulldogs.
Unity Christian (0-2) @ Coopersville (2-0)
Unity Christian won this matchup last season by a score of 69-7, and that was in the middle of their journey to the State Championship. This season, UC is shockingly 0-2 after blowout losses to both Whitehall and St. Joseph.
Coopersville has only been blown out by UC over the past few years, and they’re looking to change that here. Better yet, Coopersville can put UC in extreme danger of missing out on the playoffs and an OK-Blue title if they win this game. No doubt that the broncos will come into this one extremely motivated. I predict Colton Bosch will lead them to victory.
Cedar Springs (0-2) @ Catholic Central (2-0)
Cedar Springs came within 1 point of defeating Catholic Central last season. The Red hawks are 0-2, but they’ve played two of the best teams in the state in Zeeland West and River Rouge. The beginning of their schedule is insane, but they’re curely battle tested heading into this one.
Connor Wolf has been everything advertised. Although Catholic Central graduated a bounty of talent in 2021, they look well on their way to Ford Field once more. Let’s see what they can do against the Red hawks.
Rockford (2-0) @ West Ottawa (2-0)
On paper, this is a blowout in Rockford’s favor. I mean, West Ottawa went 0-9 last season while Rockford won the OK-Red.
Well, West Ottawa is 2-0 with wins against good teams, Northview and and Portage Northern. Kayden Forbes will have to show out for the Panthers, while I’m looking for Mac VandenHout to heat up early.
Reeths-Puffer (2-0) @ Muskegon (1-1)
SO far, Reeths-Puffer has impressed me while Muskegon is starting to worry me. Still, I have Muskegon favored in this one behind their amazing athletes. Reeths-Puffer is developing into a solid team, perhaps thanks to 1st-year head coach Cody Kater.
Players to watch include Tayte Vanderleest, Brody Johnson, Brady Ross, M’khi Guy, Miguel Botello, Destin Piggee
