Both teams have a future D1 quarterback leading the offense, but it was the Justice Haynes Justice Haynes 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Buford | 2023 State GA show in Buford on Friday night. The Alabama commit and one of the top overall running back prospects across the country rushed for two touchdowns in the first half, giving Buford a 14-0 lead at halftime. Even in the rain, he ran hard, showed plenty of speed, and the ability to score any time he has the ball. He scored his third touchdown late in the 4th quarter to give Buford the lead for goos.
Unfortunately, the rain had a giant impact on the game. The first half was particular sloppy with both teams turning the ball over multiple times. Neither team could get a passing attack going with the ball slipping through the hands of multiple receivers.
The rain let up in the 2nd half, and North Cobb just wouldn’t go away. The Wolves had a couple of opportunities to put the game away, but a TD pass from Singleton to senior RB David Mbadinga David Mbadinga 5'8" | 195 lbs | RB North Cobb | 2023 State GA turned the game around and put the Warriors on the board. Singleton added a touchdown run of his own late in the game to tie the score, but Buford’s rushing attack was just too much down the stretch.
Other news and notes…
It was a great day to be a defender and we saw multiple big plays on a slippery ball. North Cobb safety Caleb Jenkins had a nice game and picked off a pass late in the 1st half that bounced off the arm of a Buford receiver.
Buford had plenty of defenders who came ready to play. They had a tough task going up against Arkansas QB commit Malachi Singleton Malachi Singleton 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB North Cobb | 2023 State GA , but they had multiple defenders flash and make big plays including Tyshun White Tyshun White 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Buford | 2024 State GA , Bryson Banks, Jaylen Neal Jaylen Neal 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Buford | 2024 State GA , Mantrez Walker Mantrez Walker 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Buford | 2025 State GA , Jadon Perlotte Jadon Perlotte 6'4" | 215 lbs | LB Buford | 2025 State GA , Eddrick Houston Eddrick Houston 6'3" | 255 lbs | DL Buford | 2024 State GA , among others.
The Wolves ran behind left tackle Paul Mubenga Paul Mubenga 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Buford | 2023 State GA all night long. The massive 6-foot-4 280-pounder opened up running lanes all night long and showed why he’s one of the top senior tackle prospects in the state. The LSU commitment was a top performer in the game and helped the Wolves running attack lead the way in the big win.
Buford wide receiver Jordan Allen Jordan Allen 5'8" | 170 lbs | WR Buford | 2025 State GA also made a couple of impressive catches down the stretch for the Wolves.
