The winner was decided only after a blocked field goal attempt with less than one minute remaining in the game. The players listed performances caught my attention throughout the game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cardinal Gibbons</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Whitt Newbauer - QB, 6'3" 180</strong>. Whitt directed the offensive unit on a few sustained drives throughout the game. He displayed good accuracy and velocity on short and medium range passes on target to the receivers. He displayed patience in the pocket while under pressure and mobility to avoid being sacked. Whitt completed 10 of 23 passes for 118 yards and 2 TDs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Joshua Stoneking - FB, 6'3" 235</strong>. Joshua plays on both sides of the ball for his team. He finished the game with 5 carries for 40 yards and 1 TD. Joshua broke would-be tacklers on his way to a 31-yard run for a TD. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Nicholas "Nic" Leonard - WR, 5'7" 165</strong>. Nic finished the game with 9 carries for 37 yards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='144936' first='Brock' last='Chappell'] - TE, 6'6" 245</strong> <strong>(No. 4 TE, No. 131 Overall)</strong>. Brock displayed good technique and footwork to make contact with defenders blocking on the running plays. He ran good pass routes and used his body to shield defenders on a couple of passes caught in traffic. Brock displayed good speed on downfield blocking on the linebackers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wyatt Brown - T, 6'4" 245</strong>. Wyatt displayed good technique and footwork to quickly make contact with defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He displayed good balance while protecting the quarterback on passing plays. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='355090' first='Jack' last='Sheehan'] - T, 6'6" 275</strong>. Jack displayed good technique and footwork to quickly make contact with defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. Nick displayed good technique and footwork to make contact with defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He displayed good balance while protecting the quarterback on passing plays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wake Forest</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Kavon Simmons - QB, 6'0" 155</strong>. Kavon displayed calmness as he directed the offensive unit while under pressure throughout the game. He displayed the ability side-step defenders and avoided being sacked on several plays. He was difficult to contain in the pocket. Kavon displayed good accuracy on the short-range passes to receivers. He displayed the ability to throw accurate passes while on the run. Kavon completed 11 of 21 passes for 140 yards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='144702' first='Mikey' last='DiPasquale'] - RB, 5'10" 195 (No. 9 RB, No. 42 Overall)</strong>. Mikey finished the game with 11 carries for 22 yards. He threw a pass to the wide receiver for a TD.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Franklin Baret - WR, 6'4" 175</strong>. Franklin ran good pass routes and separation from defenders to make catches. He displayed good hands and used his body to shield defenders on the catches made in traffic.
