5A Arkansas Mid-Season Player Analysis

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Some players have been standouts this year that were supposed to be standouts. Some have not gotten the spotlight that they need. So, in 5A in Arkansas, there have been numerous teams and players that have shocked myself and then some that I've noticed over the past few weeks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jase Carter - Defensive Back/Running Back - Magnolia High School</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jase Carter is an athlete. Plain as that and he has the tape to show for it. Carter plays a dual role for the Panthers as a defensive back and running back. Carter has the speed to track down receivers and the ability to dominate in the running game by crashing downhill. Jase been able to run the ball extremely well for the Panthers and having numerous 10+ yard gains in the open field. The area where I believe he's best at is guarding a receiver one on one. He also is great at both forcing turnovers and recovering fumbles. Carter is a great talent that needs to be added to a roster at the next level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='205766' first='Joe' last='Trusty'] - Quarterback - Alma High School</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Trusty has been lights out for Alma this season so far. One of the biggest things that I notice from Trusty is that he has great pocket awareness. He is able to scramble when needed or just sit back and let the play develop. I also notice he knows how to lay the ball in spots where there aren't any to see. Trusty is a player that I look forward to seeing them develop as a reliable player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='201147' first='Anton' last='Pierce'] - Mills University Studies - ATH</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pierce is a natural athlete of a player. Anton has played defensive back and wide receiver this season so far. At defensive back he's a lockdown kind of player and a head hunter when it comes to run support. Pierce is a great receiver as well and has the hands and height to prove so. He is one of the leaders on the Mills football team. He currently is committed to Army to play football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Terrell Garlington - Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Morrilton High School</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Garlington is a terrific athlete. He has been able to force fumbles and make great open field tackles all season long at defensive back. He has great vision to find and Identify run and passing game. He is also a great wide receiver. He has break away speed into the open field and has the hands to back his game up. All around he is a phenomenal athlete and I look forward to seeing him playing at the next level somewhere next season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
