Continue ReadingThis summer I was able to meet some newcomers to campuses across the state and I was very impressed. Some of them are off to a good start. There are even some guys I haven’t seen or heard about doing well also. I can’t wait to continue to watch these guys success. Here are a few guys.
Omari Johnson, Wesson
Omari is a guy I took a liking to back in June. This guy ran a 4.4 at a camp I was at. Then he goes to tell me he is a freshman. My mouth dropped. I left there, went home and watched his film and say he lettered with varsity as an 8th grader last year. This kid is amazing. He will only get better.
He has started this season off with a true bang. He already has rushing, receiving and special teams touchdowns on the season. He can very well be rated very high in the nation next season if he keeps up this pace. There aren’t many freshmen doing what this kid is doing. He is an impact player already.
Grant Kitchens, Nanih Waiya
Grant is a big boy. A very big boy. He is 6-6 275 and a mean one. He knows how to make the blocks he is asked to make. He has some work to do like any other freshman. This young man is on his way to being a big time name across the state.
Braylen Williams, Nettleton
Braylen Williams is going to be a nationwide prospect soon. He is hitting the field handling business. In his last game he accumulated for four touchdowns which was every touchdown his team scored. He knows what he is doing. With a little more work this guy is going to be superb.
He knows how to move the offense. He keeps the chains moving on offense. He has good placement when he is passing the football. He could use some work on his mechanics. Sometimes his footwork is off. He could also become more aware of his situations and defenses. All of these things will get fixed. He will be just okay. I think this is a guy who will be a top 100 recruit by the time he is a senior.
Wes Wiggins Wes Wiggins 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Smithville | 2026 State MS , Smithville
Wes Wiggins Wes Wiggins 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Smithville | 2026 State MS is another name that will be well-known around the state soon. Wes is a big fellow out there who is a bulldozer. He is making holes in that run heavy offense that his team plays. Wes has some good technique. He isn’t a young offensive lineman our there just running around.
Braeden Gregory, Magee
Braeden is a young freshman who already has an offer from Southern Miss. The way he changes directions is superb. He is a guy that stays low to the ground when he runs. Normally that describes a power runner, but Gregory is a guy who shines being a speedster.
Braeden is a guy that knows how to be useful in more ways than one. He isn’t just a player that totes the rock out of the backfield. Braeden can be effective at slot receiver too. He has great hands and can run routes. Keep an eye out for him.
Andrew Winfun, North Pontotoc
This guy here is a big kid to be a 2026 player. He is 5-11 190 and knows how to tote the rock. He is going to be a bruiser at the RB position. He already has about 150 yards in two games. That’s pretty good for a freshman. Let’s see how he closes out the season.
