As we head into the sixth week of the season, it is time to highlight a few seniors who have stood out as valuable prospects in one of the more under-recruited positions in the state, most of whom are still without college offers.
This article will look at seven senior running backs who deserve to be offered right now.
Jaden Thomas
Jaden Thomas
99 CAR, 831 YDS, 6 TD; 6 REC, 151 YDS, 1 TD; 102 KOR YDS, 1 TD rnThomas is a grossly overlooked prospect with the serious potential of being a steal as a recruit. He is the type of do-all athlete whose coaches find ways to get the ball in his as often as possible. His rushing yards have him sitting fourth in the state, adding to stock value as a potential prospect. Thomas is a sleeper still waiting on his first offer, making him an absolute steal.
97 CAR, 755 YDS, 11 TD, 0 FMB (82 total points scored)rnMhlanga has had a stellar first half to the season, earning his place among the top players in total touchdowns (tied for fourth) and points scored (tied for second). He is a powerful runner with explosive cuts and good vision. He has a physical playing style and a nose for the end zone that make him a problematic runner to contain. Mhlanga is still a low-flyer on the radar with a very high ceiling, making him a sleeper who should be offered immediately.
84 CAR, 540 YDS, 6 TDrnBoehmer is a rugged, shoulder-lowering running back who brings immense physicality to the box on both sides of the ball. As a runner, his determination to run through tackles is complemented by his willingness to keep his legs moving while maintaining a low pad level when running through the tackles. Boehmer is on pace to pass the 1,000-yard mark as the leading rusher of a powerful duo, making him a prospect worth investing in now.
101 CAR, 814 YDS, 7 TDrnDuda is a three-down running back with the potential to add formidable power to an offense backfield. His ability to see the lane and blow through the crease in the defense makes him a tough runner to stop. Once he breaks through the second level, his overall speed gives him the ability to outrun most of the defenders on the field. Duda is the sixth-leading rusher in yards, making him an under-the-radar player with significant upside.
61 CAR, 376 YDS, 2 TD; 7 REC, 85 YDS, 1 TD rnThe fact that Niesent only holds one Division II offer is shocking, to say the least. He is a dynamic speedster with outstanding athletic abilities, making him one of the more dangerous playmakers in the state. As a defender, he has four interceptions, three of which were in one game, showing that he has the instincts to be a difference maker anytime he is on the field. Even though Niesent has an offer from Western Colorado, this player should be high on every recruiting board.
Highlights
68 CAR, 512 YDS, 5 TD rnRobinson is perhaps one of the more known players on this list, making his lack of offers surprising. His well-rounded skills as a running back are unmatched, making him a nightmare for defenses. He has success running between the tackles with power and bouncing it outside to exploit the edge with his explosive speed. He has impressive strength in his legs, allowing him to run through contact and break multiple tackles. Robinson is arguably one of the best running backs in the state, making him one to offer now before it becomes too late.
Highlights
99 CAR, 828 YDS, 7 TD, 0 FMB; 5 REC, 85 YDS, 1 TD; 114 KOR YDS, 1 TD rnCearns is another player who has garnered some buzz as a recruit, but he is still overlooked. He is the fifth-ranked rushing leader in yards and is on pace to become of the more prominent rushers in the Centennial League. His accolades as a returner up to this point were achieved in the first game due to teams refusing to kick the ball in his direction, which speaks volumes about his skills as a ball carrier in space. Cearns has a D2 offer from Western Colorado, but there is no reason his number of offers should not significantly increase.
