The ability to move an opponent from point A to point B against their will in the run game is crucial, while being able to move fluidly with great balance and strength in pass protection is a must. The offensive line is the heartbeat for any offensive to have positive momentum throughout the duration of a game, and to have consistent drives on any given series.
Let’s take a look at the offensive lineman that made the West Virginia 2023 Top 50!
Layath Ghannam 6-5 285 George Washington High School: Ranked 1st
The Virginia Tech commit is number 1 on our rankings and for good reason, the athletic offensive lineman that has good base and balance to move well in space which allows him to control the defender whether its a run or pass situation. He shows to have quick athletic feet and can mirror his defenders in pass protection with ease.
Wyatt Minor 6-6 300 Robert C. Byrd High School: Ranked 12th
A strong powerful offensive lineman that has the versatility to play on the left or right side of the line which allows him to make key blocks throughout the duration of a game. He demonstrates to have consistent fundamentals to finish blocks on a consistent basis and drives through the defender.
Logan Isom 6-5 285 Independence High School: Ranked 32nd
An athletic offensive lineman that is light on his feet and has the ability to mirror the oncoming defender and has a strong lower body to anchor against the bull rush. He moves well to reach the second level to seal off linebackers to extend running plays on a consistent basis.
Michael D. Hogan 6-4 325 Wheeling Park High School: Ranked 50th
A physical athletic interior offensive lineman that is light on his feet and has good body control when he is reaching second level defenders. He shows the awareness to adjust his footwork and seal off defenders to create open lanes in the run game.
