These teams are expected to make a run and win their leagues. Muskegon and Mona Shoes will battle it out for King of Muskegon County, while Dexter and Waterford Mott have returning seniors that give them a unique edge.
Dark Horse Contenders: Oak Park*, Forest Hills Central, South Lyon, Traverse City Central, Roseville, Portage Central, Livonia Franklin, Harper Woods
These teams can make a run, and are all talented enough to make the playoffs. Many of these teams have been historically excellent or were fantastic last season and are looking to build off recent success.

Must-See Matchups
September 2 – Muskegon @ De La Salle
This could be a preview of the eventual D2 State Championship. These two powerhouse programs will be facing off in Warren with my most anticipated regular-season matchup of the season. These are two of the most well-coached teams with two of the most exciting and well-designed playbooks. I can’t predict the outcome, but what I can predict is that this one of going to be FUN.
Oct 14 – Waterford Mott @ South Lyon
Mott, a team who has the best shot at a State Championship in over a decade vs South Lyon, a team who fought to the State Semifinals last season. This is going to be good. QB

can truly begin to make a bigger name for himself here and in the postseason; while this will be an opportunity for South Lyon to prove to the world they’ll still be contenders.
Oct 21 – Mona Shores @ Muskegon
A likely battle for the OK-Green title, The Big Reds and Sailors will battle in a highly-anticipated rivalry. These are two of the most storied programs in the state, and both programs are eyeing a ring this season. I’m extremely interested to see how Mona Shores stops the dynamic Muskegon offense, and I’m excited to see how Muskegon stops the athleticism on the Mona Shores Offense.
