1. Pierce Bluejays (Preseason Ranking: #1)

Next Game: Scotus Catholic 0-1

Pierce handled business against a Wahoo team that I think will be playing come playoff time. Very impressive 38-7 victory.

The [player_tooltip player_id='217056' first='Abram' last='Scholting'] to Ben Brahmer connections looks as healthy as ever going into year 3. They connected on 9 passes for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Also don't sleep on Abram's ability to tuck and run. He added 67 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The defense has a ton of hungry players that can zip around.

2. Aurora Huskies (Preseason Ranking: #2)

Next Game: #5 Boone Central 1-0

Few teams had a more impressive season opener than Aurora did in their 43-13 thumping of Class B GI Northwest.

[player_tooltip player_id='217059' first='Carlos' last='Collazo'] continued to look like one of the top backs in the state with 134 rushing yards.

The Huskies are going to be a handful on both sides of the trenches. Big, tough, relentless players that can generate great push at the LOS.

3. Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #3)

Next Game: @ Wahoo 0-1

AG took down the reigning Class C1 champions, Columbus Lakeview, in quite a convincing fashion. 35-6 was the final score.

The offense looked efficient with a solid passing game and 260 yards rushing as a team.

Their defense could be the overall strength of this team. The team registered 5 sacks and 6 tackles for loss.

4. McCook Bison, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #4)

Next Game: @ Gothenburg 0-1

[player_tooltip player_id='239152' first='Adam' last='Dugger'] could be one of the more underrated dual-threat QBs in the state. He passed for 102 yards on 9/13 passing and rushed for 150 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.

They have a versatile group of players that can do anything from running, catching, playing LB, rushing the passer, or dropping into coverage. [player_tooltip player_id='311684' first='Alex' last='Anthony'], [player_tooltip player_id='239166' first='Garrett' last='Kaps'], and the Gomez-Wilson bros are all threats to make a play on either side of the ball.

5. Boone Central Cardinals, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #5)

Next Game: @ #2 Aurora 1-0

Boone is a team that I don't think many people are taking as seriously as they should. They are LEGIT and have a talented roster to prove it.

They're coming off a 42-21 win over a Broken Bow team that could also make a playoff push later in the year.

Some very underrated names in this group. [player_tooltip player_id='340512' first='Brant' last='Benes'], [player_tooltip player_id='239789' first='Jack' last='Roberts'], [player_tooltip player_id='250336' first='Parker' last='Borer'], [player_tooltip player_id='408449' first='Nathaniel' last='Werner'] are all names to watch out for.

6. Chadron Cardinals, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #6)

Next Game: Gering 1-0 (Class B)

I get the feeling Chadron is going to be a team that can hang with anyone in Class C1.

Their 1-2 punch of [player_tooltip player_id='227055' first='Xander' last='Provance'] and [player_tooltip player_id='239992' first='Seth' last='Gaswick'] is one of the best ATH duos in the state.

7. Adams Central Patriots, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #7)

Next Game: @ Holdrege 1-0

[player_tooltip player_id='250400' first='Nick' last='Conant'] and [player_tooltip player_id='227021' first='Hyatt' last='Collins'] backfield was brutal last year, now senior Holden O'Dey might be another beast to prepare for.

The defense also did a great job shutting down Minden's offense. Eventually holding on for the 28-7 win over the Whippets.

[player_tooltip player_id='302778' first='Leighton' last='Weber'] is a name to know on this defense. Hidden gem propect.

8. Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: #10)

Next Game: Nebraska City 0-1

Shut out a solid C1 squad in Wayne with a 30-0 final score.

[player_tooltip player_id='340508' first='Brady' last='McGill'] had a great day not just as a passer but showing off the heroics as well. He recovered a fumbled snap on an XP and was able to take it to the house.

This defense is going to be one to watch in this Class. Lots of young backer/safety type players that love to hit.

9. St. Paul Wildcats, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: NR)

Next Game: Minden 0-1

The defense looked stingy and was destructive in the backfield. 6 tackles for loss.

The duo of [player_tooltip player_id='227093' first='Quade' last='Peterson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='408684' first='Ryker' last='Goettsche'] is going to be tough to prepare for every week.

Expect a punishing running attack from the Wildcats. They have some budding workhorses in senior John Placke and sophomore Cody Kuszak.

10. Auburn Bulldogs, 1-0 (Preseason Ranking: NR)

Next Game: Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 0-1

Defense went crazy in this 33-8 win over Boys Town.

They accumulated 13 tackles for loss, 3 fumble recoveries, and snagged an INT.

[player_tooltip player_id='245905' first='Tate' last='Hug'] and [player_tooltip player_id='319198' first='Nixon' last='Ligouri'] are two incredibly versatile offensive players. They can go off for a long reception or break off a long run.
