Both Farmington and Greenbrier enjoyed success last season with both teams earning playoff spots and having impressive seasons. We are going to look at prospects to keep an eye on in the matchup this Friday in Greenbrier.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Looking first at the visiting Farmington Cardinals. On the offensive side of the ball, Farmington has the pieces inn place for a strong 2022 football season. At the quarterback position, [player_tooltip player_id='157343' first='Cameron' last='Vanzant'] threw for over 2,300 yards, with 32 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also displayed a willingness to run with the football, punching the ball in the end zone four times. Vanzant has the potential to have a big season for the Cardinals this season. At the running back position, Farmington has several options to choose from this season. Tray Moser, Caden Berger, and Russell Hodge will all see carries for the Cardinals this season. At the receiver position, Peyton Funk exploded on to the scene last season I expect a big season from him this season. Lawson DeVault and Ty Bynum also makes plenty of plays in the passing game for the Cardinals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Farmington's offensive line has the potential to be one of the best in the state of Arkansas this season. The Farmington offensive line is an experienced group. Center [player_tooltip player_id='149539' first='Hunter' last='Marshall'] is a student of the game and has a great feel for it. Riley Lockard did a great job at the guard position last season and is looking to finish out his Farmington career strong. [player_tooltip player_id='264719' first='Dawson' last='Triplett'] and Hunter Bentley will man the tackle positions for the Cardinals this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball for the Cardinals. Along the defensive line folks will see Scott Morrison and Carter Moad get some time. Both are versatile players and can play the tackle or edge rusher positions. At the tackle position David Stettmeier will play the tackle position. The Cardinals have extremely talented [player_tooltip player_id='220842' first='Cooper' last='Gardenhire'] patrolling the field at the linebacker position. When you turn on the film, Gardenhire is in on almost every tackle. In the secondary, look for Sam Wells to continue his solid play from a season ago when he racked up 79 tackles on the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shifting our focus to the Greenbrier Panthers. On the offensive side of the ball, the Panthers will be breaking in a new quarterback this season. Kane Griffin, Kaden Brooks, Wilson Morganson, Owen Scribner, and [player_tooltip player_id='221267' first='Kane' last='Richardson'] all have the opportunity to see some snaps this season. Plenty of talent is at the signal caller position so whoever wins the battle has the pieces to have a big season. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='399229' first='Eli' last='Weaver'], had a solid season in 2021, rushing for over 500 yards and nine touchdowns. At the receiver spot, [player_tooltip player_id='143614' first='Carter' last='McElhany'] has opened eyes over the past two seasons with his excellent speed and ability to catch the football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball for the Panthers. The Greenbrier defense only has three starters returning from a stifling defense a season ago. [player_tooltip player_id='425969' first='Jacob' last='Hardgrave'] has the ability to play every position along the defensive front. Hardgrave racked up 42 tackles and two sacks last season and uses his quickness well to disrupt the opposing offensive backfield. [player_tooltip player_id='399229' first='Eli' last='Weaver'] operated at the linebacker position and earned all-state honors in the process last season. In the secondary, Matt Barnard makes plays at the safety position for the Panthers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Predicting a matchup like this one is always tricky. Both teams are looking to set the momentum for the season. Expect big plays from both offenses. I expect Farmington to pull a hard-fought win, however, this is a game that could go either way.
