Mahkai Hopkins Mahkai Hopkins 6’2″ | 240 lbs | RB Harrisburg | 2023 State PA grades out as the highest-ranking running back that has yet to announce his commitment. The young man is up to 6’2, 235 pounds. Despite the Cougars being loaded with weapons, I fully expect Hopkins to outproduce his junior year production. The Harrisburg offense should be humming this Fall, no one should eat more than the duo of Hopkins and Temple-commit Kyle Williams Kyle Williams 6’0″ | 185 lbs | ATH Harrisburg | 2023 State PA . Excited to see Hopkins provide reps at linebacker as well.
Cyncir Bowers Cyncir Bowers 5’10” | 190 lbs | RB Bishop McDevitt | 2023 State PA rounds out the top five senior running backs. He, as well as Mahkai Hopkins Mahkai Hopkins 6’2″ | 240 lbs | RB Harrisburg | 2023 State PA , are the two behind the Power Five trio that includes London Montgomery London Montgomery 5’11” | 190 lbs | RB Scranton Prep | 2023 State PA , Jahiem White Jahiem White 5’9″ | 190 lbs | RB William Penn (York) | 2023 State PA , and teammate Marquese Williams Marquese Williams 5’11” | 190 lbs | RB Bishop McDevitt | 2023 State PA . Bowers has his suitors, a heavily sought-after back amongst FCS teams that recruit in Pennsylvania. There is no doubt in my mind that Bowers could be successful at the G5 level, his tape proves it. Bowling Green and Old Dominion could end up with this kid in their laps.
I am admittedly not in the know of Davion Hill Davion Hill 6’2″ | 215 lbs | RB Loyalsock Township | 2023 State PA ‘s recruitment status on the football field. One thing I do know is this kid is a dog on the court and the field. Whatever program ends up with this kid’s talents, in either sport, will be landing a D1 caliber prospect who will turn heads early in his collegiate career. Seeing what he’s capable of on the court, it’s hard to imagine him not pursuing basketball. Either way, he’s blessed with an outlet through two different avenues. Incredible athlete.
Jamaal Brown Jamaal Brown 5’11” | 210 lbs | RB Upper St. Clair | 2023 State PA ‘s talents could land him at the four spot on this list when it’s all said in done. That’s how highly I think of this young man. Brown is currently holding offers out of numerous FCS schools, some of which include Youngstown State, Georgetown, Stony Brook, Monmouth, and Albany, just to name a few. The Army and Navy academies are also knocking on his door. Brown grades out as a potential Power Five prospect. An elite senior year could provide even more opportunities.
Mitch Ragni Mitch Ragni 6’0″ | 230 lbs | ATH West Chester East | 2023 State PA , who is finally a top ten ranked back in the state, is still up for grabs at the time of writing. Can’t forget how well this kid produced in just five games last year. A full season and you could see a 1,200+ yard ball carrier who can seemingly score from anywhere on the field. I think he’s still underrated despite his top-80 rank. I wonder where collegiate evaluators prefer him at the next level, the kid is equally dominant a linebacker as well. Ragni holds offers out of Central Michigan, Monmouth, and Yale University.
Davidson, Georgetown, Sacred Heart, Bryant, and LIU have set their eyes on Penn Charter product and top ten running back Ohifame Ijeboi Ohifame Ijeboi 6’0″ | 195 lbs | RB William Penn Charter | 2024 State PA . A name I knew to blow up, even more doors could be opened with a stellar senior campaign. Offseason work in the weight room could elevate the 1st-team All-InterAc to a level we haven’t yet seen. Penn Charter should have a chip on their shoulder this Fall, expect Ijeboi to be heavily involved in plans to get PC back on track.
D2s are beginning to show interest in Plum running back Eryck Moore-Watkins Eryck Moore-Watkins 6’0″ | 190 lbs | RB Plum | 2023 State PA . As recently as late last month, EMW secured his third D2 offer out of Clarion University, adding to his list that includes Notre Dame College and Fairmont State. There isn’t a more underrated prospect on this. A back who can score off-tackle, through the trenches, and in the passing game, there aren’t many alignments Moore-Watkins hasn’t scored from. Expect his offer count to tick in the right direction sooner rather than later.
The 13th-ranked running back on our 2023 senior rankings was often a lead prospect in many of the unoffered pieces I write. We can finally put those to bed. Just last month, Troutman secured his first and second offers out of Westminster College and Waynesburg University. We grade Troutman to have a D2 ceiling, we will see if his Fall play can put him at that level.
Another name I shouldn’t have to include in unoffered pieces anymore. His time will come. First-team All-Catholic RB and standout defensive back, Colin Majors Colin Majors 5’9″ | 160 lbs | RB Conwell Egan Catholic | 2023 State PA enters this list with a single opportunity presenting itself. Major’s capabilities and tape prove he is capable of D2 football, that’s his floor in my opinion. Evaluators always have their reasons, yet Major’s lack of offers is a bit of a head-scratcher. Nonetheless, I’d bet on this kid to put out an even better Fall season than he put forth last Fall.
