Lincoln Christian is once again playing in one of the top games this week as they’ll host 2A’s #7 Jones on Friday night. The Bulldogs have made it a normal part of their schedule to have a tough non-district slate and this year is no different. After they face Jones, they’ll face another 2A top ten team in Vian before traveling to Arkansas to take on Arkansas powerhouse Shiloh Christian. So the Bulldogs will know exactly where they’re at after the month of September. Lincoln came into this season as the preseason #1 team in Class 3A and they backed it up in their season opener.
Lincoln Christian had their season end at the hands of Holland Hall in 2020 and 2021 in the state championship game. While the Dutch claimed the gold ball, Lincoln had to settle for silver and the top ranked Bulldogs were going to leave no doubt in the championship rematch on Friday night. From the opening kick off, the Bulldogs began their onslaught at the expense of the Dutch. There’s no doubt that Lincoln Christian had that game circled on their calendars for a while now. Lincoln was definitely the favorite coming into that match-up but I don’t think many around the state expected them to hand the Dutch a 56-7 beat down.
Now the Bulldogs shift their focus to a Jones team that is coming off a season-opening loss to Bethany. The Longhorns lost to Bethany in their season opener last year and then turned around and nearly upset the Bulldogs in 2021. Lincoln Christian gave up a touchdown with a little less than a minute to play but the Bulldogs were able to march down the field and kick a game-winning field goal as time expired. In the 2020 meeting, it was all Jones in the first half as the Longhorns were dominant in the first two quarters but Lincoln Christian climbed back and rolled to the win over Jones. Friday’s game will present another test to a Lincoln Christian team that has talent everywhere on both sides of the ball. We break down some of those top players in this exclusive Practice Report!
When it comes to this year’s Lincoln Christian squad, there’s probably no player that we’ve seen more in person than 2023 wide receiver Cam Dooley Cam Dooley 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK . He’s been playing for Sooner 7 over the last few offseasons and we’ve seen him perform at a high level in so many tournaments during that stretch. Last year, Dooley was a newcomer to the Lincoln Christian team and was an instant impact player on the offense. This year, Dooley is much more experienced and has a chance to become Lincoln’s leading wide receiver this fall. Dooley would finish the season opener with five catches for nearly 100 yards and a touchdown in their blowout win over Holland Hall. While he has the potential to be the leading receiver, he’s also just one of several talented players that could lead the Bulldogs in receiving in any given week. And that’s a big problem for Lincoln’s opponents this fall.

Lincoln Christian 2023 running back and linebacker Easton Rogers Easton Rogers 6’3″ | 210 lbs | ATH Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK is one of several 2023 prospects that has announced a commitment to play college ball for the Air Force. Rogers definitely has a bright future ahead of him and he’s looking to cap off a solid career with an excellent senior season. Rogers is your prototypical linebacker that also plays running back. He’s an extremely physical back that has really good size at 6’3. Rogers had a good showing in the season opener against Holland Hall. He would run for a pair of touchdowns and also had an interception on the defensive side of the ball. That interception set up one of his rushing touchdowns. Rogers definitely has the ability to be one of the top two-way players in the state this fall and that’s why he earned Preseason All State honors coming into this fall.

We mentioned Lincoln Christian making a statement immediately in the Holland Hall game with the opening kick off. 2023 defensive back Griffin Dyer Griffin Dyer 5’10” | 165 lbs | DB Lincoln Christian | 2023 OK got the kick off and would take it the distance, putting Lincoln Christian up early and the offensive onslaught would continue from there. There’s no doubt when you look at this Lincoln Christian team that they have plenty of weapons on offense. And the defense has a lot of talent as well. But to get a player like Dyer, who stands out on the defensive side of the ball to be a legitimate weapon in special teams just makes this team even more dangerous moving forward. Lincoln Christian is starting to remind us a lot of a “pick your poison” team. It’s still very early, but they look like one of the more complete teams in Oklahoma, regardless of class.
Highlights
Lincoln Christian 2024 quarterback Luke Milligan Luke Milligan 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Lincoln Christian | 2024 State OK is looking to become the next great quarterback that comes out of the Lincoln Christian program and he’s off to a great start. Milligan was nearly perfect in his first start on Friday night, throwing for just over 200 yards on 14-15 passing. Milligan saw plenty of time on the field last year but it was always after the Bulldogs had the game in the bag. Friday night was the first meaningful football that Milligan has played on the varsity level and he definitely looks the part already. Granted, we saw Milligan several times this offseason while he played for Sooner 7. So we knew that based on arm talent alone, he had a chance to keep this Lincoln offense as one of the best in the state. Friday’s game against Jones will be a fun match-up of 2024 quarterbacks that are replacing D1 signees as Clayton Creasey Clayton Creasey 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Jones | 2024 State OK is now starting for the Longhorns.

We mentioned how Lincoln Christian has quite a bit of talent on that defensive side of the ball and here’s another example. 2023 linebacker Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson 5’11” | 210 lbs | LB Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK is one of the more underrated prospects in the state’s 2023 class. Look, the linebacker position is absolutely full of really good players this year but Johnson definitely belongs on that list and should be considered as such moving forward. He and the Lincoln Christian gave up just one touchdown in their win over Holland Hall in week zero. They’re facing a Jones team that has the potential to put up a lot of points behind a really strong passing attack. But Johnson and the Lincoln Christian front seven will attempt to make things very difficult for the Longhorns moving forward. In terms of 2023 prospects that are still available, Johnson is one of the best at the position.
