Team Preview

Kellenberg is coming off a solid season in which they finished 4-3 in league play with two close losses to Monsignor Farrell and Cardinal Hayes. Kellenberg will lose notable contributors from last season. They will lose four of their top five receivers (Peter Von Schoenermarck, Jaden Lyons, Aidan Henry, and Gilbert Rivera) from last season and start running back Brendan Leahy. With a lot of offensive production that needs to be replaced, there are certainly questions surrounding the offensive firepower of Kellenberg.

Kellenberg at least returns perhaps their most electric playmakers from last season in Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='235868' first='Devin' last='Page'], who looks to shoot up New York States quarterback rankings this fall potentially, and Athlete Sean Cannon who is a force on both sides of the ball. While Page may have lost most of his receiving corp. He returns four of the five linemen from last season. The offensive line led by Dylan Page looks to protect Page and help Kellenberg build off of last season's prolific air attack.

One area Kellenberg can improve headed into this season? Well, in every single loss last season, they allowed at least 150 rushing yards to their opponent. Improving controlling the line of scrimmage and getting teams in difficult third-down situations will be the critical factor in their season. The offense will score but can the defense start to control games? Luckily Coach Meisse returns nine starters on the defensive side of the ball. The continuity of the defense could help them improve their performance from last season.

While Kellenberg is still working its way to the top of the Catholic AAA standings, this could be the year they make some noise. [player_tooltip player_id='235868' first='Devin' last='Page'] looks to take another step in leading this offense. He could finish as one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league. Offensive lineman Dylan Page looks to substantially impact defense while anchoring an offensive line unit that returns the other four starters. There is a ton of potential with Kellenberg as a team and for some of these players to garner more attention from schools. A player to keep an eye on will be Sean Cannon, the most athletic guy on both sides of the ball for Kellenberg. While he shined as a defender last season, taking the next step as a playmaker for Page and the offense will be integral to the team's success.

Any time you get to play the New York States' best team, it is can't miss. Iona Prep may be bigger, faster, and stronger but Kellenberg has the quarterback to give them a chance in any game.

10/22/2022 Sat vs. Stepinac 1:00 PM Mitchel Field

10/29/2022 Sat vs. Mons. Farrell 1:00 PM Mitchel Field

Last season this matchup was an exciting 21-17 victory for Monsignor Farrell. If Kellenberg wants to take the next step by stopping Farrell and starting running back, [player_tooltip player_id='233590' first='Messiah' last='Burch'] will be essential to rising in the league standings.
