Week 1 Recap
Every week in football no matter the league is full of fireworks. We had multiple teams go off and score plenty of points and plenty of touchdowns. Lineman dominated with tackles sacks and even pancake blocks. Football is back and here is your update from last weeks Top 3. Our top game was between Omaha Westside and the Creighton Prep Junior Jays. This game didn’t seem close at first. Westside took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, in the second quarter Westside scored 17 more points. At halftime Westside was up 24-0 until Creighton prep rallied after a scoreless 3rd quarter. In the 4th the Junior Jays scored 17 points but it wasn’t enough and Junior Jays fell to the Warriors 24-17. Our next game was between Lakeview and Ashland-Greenwood. This game was a beat down Lakeview could not get anything started on offense and Ashland-Greenwood’s Defense was way too strong. Ashland would lead 21-0 at half, Lakeview would finally score 6 points in the 4th quarter and the Bluejays would win 35-6. Wahoo was no match for Pierce last week. Pierce was ready for a shutout they went up a huge 28-0 to start the game. Wahoo would finally get a slowed down half but they. also couldn’t get their offense going leading to them falling 38-7.
Westside @ Grand Island
Westside is back here again they have a strong early schedule and they have some massive matchups this weekend. This week they travel to Grand Island to take on the Islanders. This will be a test for Grand Island however they do have an opportunity to take on Westside and possibly pull of an upset. Westside won a solid game last week against Creighton Prep winning 24-17. Grand Island opened up their season with a close 20-19 win over the North Platte Bulldogs.

Jack scored every one of the Islanders touchdowns last week. This destroys his rushing stats from last season where he only rushed for 129 total yards and scoring 1 touchdown. Anthony Rezac Anthony Rezac 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE is already an allstar. He definitely is one of the most talent players in Nebraska. Anthony had 124 yards last week on only 19 carries. Not only that he had 176 passing yards on 9 completions and 2 touchdowns. This will be one of the most exciting matchups of the season especially in the early season.

Boone Central @Aurora
Last season Aurora was still only in Class B but this season they moved down to Class C-1 and what an opening it is. Last season they made it all the way to the Class B state finals and then got be by an amazing Bennington team. This year Aurora looks to continue their success in Class C-1 and they got off to a great start. Last week they dominated and completely destroyed Grand Island Northwest 43-13. Boone Central was one of the best C-1 teams last season only losing 2 games the entire season and making it to the State Semifinals. The two powerhouse teams go into this week 1-0 and ready to go after each other.

Along with this he had a 69 yard pass for a touchdown. An absolutely dominant performance by Collazo and im oumped to see even more.

Papillion-LaVista VS Papillion-LaVista South
Around Omaha the matchup between the Titans of Papio-South and the Monarchs of Papillion La Vista has been dubbed the Papio-bowl. And for this year’s Papio bowl all the cards are on the table. Last season these two started the season playing each other and it was a heck of a game. It was a shootout in the end of the game. PLVS would score 20 by half time going up 20-0 and then the Monarchs would go on a 21 point run to take the lead. PLVS would score 6 points in the 4th but the Monarchs would score 7 and take the entire game 28-26. Papillion La Vista started the season 0-1 caused by an overtime loss to Millard North. Papio-South starts the season 2-0 with a 35-21 victory over North Platte and a 35-19 victory over Fremont. Even though the records are a bit imbalanced I know for a fact these guys will play it close and it will be an exciting game.
