Highlights
One of the better two-way players in the state and could’ve been on the defensive list. However, Brewer showed tremendous skill as the No.1 for his offense. His ability to create in space makes him an issue for any defense he faces. With a natural wiggle, quick twitch, and a smaller frame to maneuver in close quarters, Brewer is a lock to gain yards anytime the ball is in his hands. Shows solid route running when working within the route tree and understands how to expose gaps in zone coverage. Brewer also displays good hands and can work the inside area field with toughness. Look for Brewer to be a top playmaker in the North Alabama region on both ends of the ball and gain quality offers through the season.
Javion Roscoe
Javion Roscoe
Roscoe is an all-around back with a broad skill set and can be an asset to any offense. With superb cutting skills and great vision, he exposes lanes and anticipates when a crease is opening- compensating for his lack of elite speed and creating chunk plays. Roscoe also has solid enough hands to be a pass catcher out of the backfield or line up at the slot and be an option in the quick game. Lastly, Roscoe is very willing and skilled when blocking in pass pro-, making him a great option as a third-down back who can provide extra time in obvious passing situations. This variety of tools will keep him on the field as a three-down back and give him opportunities to be productive throughout the season.
Tariq Thaxton
Tariq Thaxton
Thaxton is a positionless playmaker who can be used all over the field. He Showed utility and production with his touches in every facet of the game, lined up on the outside, slot, running back, and return guy, and made a 20+ yard play in each spot. With solid straight-line speed and excellent elusiveness- seems always to maximize the play. He also has enough strength to be a thumper and occasionally push through tackles. Thaxton also showed he could create in the quick game, work against man, or take the top off the defense and hit his head on the goalpost, making him a threat at every level. If Thaxton can keep this production level at all these positions, he has to be in the conversation of being a top-tier all-purpose player in the state.
Bruce is one of the most explosive backs in the state and is a certified home run hitter. His elite acceleration and speed make him one of the more dangerous playmakers in the state. Though his game is based on his straight-line speed Bruce’s ability to maintain his speed out of his cuts makes him nearly unguardable when in the open field and a scoring threat if given space. This uncanny burst led him to have 240 yards on 13 attempts and four touchdowns last Friday against Jasper. If this production and consistent explosive plays continue, Bruce will have to be mentioned as one of the best backs in the state.
Jackson Thomas
Jackson Thomas
Thomas is a receiver with next-level size and skill. His mixture of polish and athleticism should open more eyes as the season progresses. Thomas is very explosive off the line of scrimmage with his releases and can create instant separation. This led to him consistently taking the top off the defense and being a downfield threat whenever a defense tried to press. When working the quick game, he can gets in and out of his cuts easily. He can routinely make something from nothing and moves very smoothly in space despite having a lankier frame than most. Though he’s already committed to Troy, there should be no surprise if another Power 5 school attempts to snag his services.
