1st Quarter

Grand Ledge ran the football very effectively in the first quarter. Starting quarterback and wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='407334' first='Shawn' last='Foster'] had some great runs. Foster scored the 2nd Grand Ledge touchdown of the first quarter to put them up 13-0. The Grand Ledge defense was outstanding early and did not allow Colldwater to get into a rhythm offensively.

Grand Ledge 2nd Quarter Big Plays

Tight End Teddy Willams had a great 1st down catches over the middle of the field. Evan Selby had some great carries as well. Selby has good acceleration and did a great job of getting to the outside and picking up first down yardage. Mason Stocker checked into the game at quarterback with just under 6 minutes in the 2nd quarter. He threw a beautiful 55-yard touchdown pass to [player_tooltip player_id='299953' first='Andrew' last='Konieczny'] to give Grand Ledge a commanding 20-0 lead with just 1:49 left before halftime.

Coldwater Players That Stoodout

Quarterback Zach Coffing ran the ball well for Coldwater all night. He ran hard and did a good job of following his blockers. Cornerback Evan Porter was good in coverage for Coldwater. There were multiple drives that Grand Ledge was forced to punt due in part to Porter's coverage down field. Porter was not shy about coming up and helping in run support as well. I like his game a lot and he will be an asset for Coldwater's defense this season.

3rd Quarter Key Plays

Garrett McVicker had a tackle for loss for Coldwater with just over 8 minutes in the 3rd quarter. Grand Ledge defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='299953' first='Andrew' last='Konieczny'] recovered a fumble for with just over 5 minutes in the 3rd quarter. [player_tooltip player_id='407334' first='Shawn' last='Foster'] connected with [player_tooltip player_id='268848' first='Teddy' last='Williams'] for a 25-yard touchdown pass to put Grand Ledge up 27-0 with just 3:44 to go in the 3rd quarter.

More Players That Stoodout

Grand ledge defensive back Noah McCartney had some great open-field tackles. He also had a 50-yard touchdown that put Grand Ledge up 34-0 late in the 4th quarter. Coldwater defensive back Hunter Munson had some great tackles on the night and was very solid in coverage. He is a good athlete and plays the safety position very well. The Grand Ledge defensive line was very good all night and defensive lineman Noah Allen had a good game. Donte Work had some great catches over the middle of field for Coldwater. Work was good on defense as well. He is a very good athlete who has very good size for the outside linebacker position.

Final Anlasyis

Grand Ledge played very well overall. Their defensive line was very aggressive and was outstanding against the run. If Grand Ledge continues to play this well in the front seven you have to believe they will come away with many more victories this season. I believe Coldwater will bounce back and be successful this season. This is a program that is competitive every season. Grand Ledge will play Jackson next week. Coldwater will open up league play next week as they take on Marshall at home.
