By the start of game week, most teams will have two scrimmages under their belts to better prepare for their season openers.
This article will briefly examine five senior players who stood out during their first round of scrimmages, solidifying them as players to keep an eye on during the final high school season.
Patterson secured his place under the spotlight during the scrimmage against Fairview. He had a few monstrous runs that helped to breathe life into the Rangeview team and fans. He is a well-rounded three-down running back with show-stopping abilities. His outstanding athleticism and great overall strength make him a problematic runner to bring down. Patterson is a versatile athlete with significant upside as a prospect, making him more than worthy of a closer look.
Lewis is a senior leader who will serve as an invaluable anchor for the Knights on both sides of the ball. His abilities as a linebacker are nothing less than phenomenal, but it was his showing as a running back that made him stand out during the scrimmage against Rangeview. He is more of a one-cut back who showed his powerful running skills. Lewis will be expected to lead the defense as an interior linebacker while providing the offense with extra power in the run game.

Thomason is one of the top offensive linemen in the nation, making him no stranger to the spotlight. During the scrimmage against Skyline, he showed off his unstoppable power as a member of the offensive front. His ability to clear defenders out of the area with ease makes him a formidable player for any defensive front to deal with. Thomason is a force of nature with elite techniques and leadership skills on and off the field, making it no surprise that he is one of the top recruited offensive linemen in the country.

Riters is a do-all player who was able to stand out on defense, offense, and special teams during the scrimmage against Niwot. He has a solid frame and impressive athleticism. His abilities to move fluidly in coverage and initiate contact as a safety make him a solid addition to the secondary. He flashed strong techniques as a receiver, primarily with his solid route-running skills. In addition to being a two-way standout, Riters is also his team’s kicker, who showed consistency when kicking extra points straight down the middle of the uprights. Riters popped up on the radar as a player who is worthy of a closer look.
