Over the past few months, the Class of ’24 has been putting in serious work as they gear up for their junior year. Many prospects earned a slight increase in rank, but these five juniors rose the highest in this August update. Here’s a breakdown of how high they climbed.
Cameron Porter Cameron Porter 5'9" | 165 lbs | DB Gardner-Edgerton | 2024 State KS – Gardner-Edgerton, 5’9”, 160, DB
The Porter brothers have represented well in this update. First Elijah Porter Elijah Porter 5'9" | 160 lbs | DB Gardner-Edgerton | 2024 State KS was highlighted as a newcomer in the Top 100, and now Cameron is being recognized as the leading stock riser. Cameron climbed 13 spots in this update to No. 73 overall, and is now the 12th ranked defensive back in the class. His athleticism was on full display at the SpotTheBall Showcase earlier this summer. Cameron tested well, posting a 4.53 40 time, and a 4.4 pro-agility time. Look for him to pick up another All-Sunflower League selection as a junior.
Trey Ridley Trey Ridley 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Blue Valley NW | 2024 State KS – Blue Valley NW, 6’1”, 185, DB
Trey Ridley Trey Ridley 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Blue Valley NW | 2024 State KS has really established himself as not only one of the best defensive backs in the class, but also as one of the best overall players. The talented safety nearly cracked the Top 10 in this update, as he moved up to No. 11 overall and is now the 2nd ranked defensive back in the class. His nine rank increase comes after a few standout performances during camp season. Ridley earned an All-Camp Team selection while attending the TopGun FBU showcase, and he also earned an offer from the Iowa State Cyclones after showing out in Ames.
Kaedin Massey Kaedin Massey 6'8" | 280 lbs | OL Lyndon | 2024 State KS – Lyndon, 6’8”, 250, ATH
The anticipation for Kaedin Massey Kaedin Massey 6'8" | 280 lbs | OL Lyndon | 2024 State KS ‘s junior season continues to build. He was a newcomer in the May update, and now just three months later, the big man nearly cracks the Top 50. Massey moves up nine spots after stringing together strong performances throughout this summer. The 8-Man product made it a point to get his name out in the recruiting world ahead of his junior campaign. He competed at college camps such as Emporia State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State. Massey heads into the ’22 season as the 10th ranked athlete in the class and the 52nd ranked prospect overall.
Noah Gunion Noah Gunion 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Shawnee Mission West | 2024 State KS – Shawnee Mission West, 6’0”, 165, ATH
Noah Gunion Noah Gunion 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Shawnee Mission West | 2024 State KS ‘s stock continues to be on the rise through yet another update. He moved up to No. 70 in the previous one, and this time he moves up seven spots to No. 63 overall and is now the 14th ranked athlete in the class. Gunion made significant improvements in his 40 time this summer; posting a 4.5 while at Grand View University’s camp, and was the fastest player in attendance. He followed that performance up by clocking a 4.49 at William Jewell’s camp shortly after. The speedster is primed for a big year, and could climb the rankings for a third-straight time in the next update.
Callen Barta Callen Barta 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Seaman | 2024 State KS – Seaman, 6’2”, 175, DB
Although Barta didn’t see a significant increase in his rank, he still maintained his status as a Top 50 prospect. He now sits at No. 36 overall and is the 6th ranked defensive back in the class. Barta was a breakout player on defense as a sophomore, but he’s looking to expand his game as a junior. Since the previous update, Barta has improved his 40 time, pro-agility time, and his vertical. This offseason he was clocked at 4.59 in the 40, 4.18 in the pro-agility, and he nearly hit 35 inches in the vertical. On top of this, he’s been getting a lot of reps at receiver during 7-on-7 competition. Look for him to be a standout two-way player in Class 5A this season.
