Continue ReadingOur rankings for the Class of 2024 were released earlier this week. Rounding out our Top 10 is a slew of offensive standouts that will, undoubtedly, be showing out in 2022.
In this article, we’ll take a dive into each of these future college stars, including their current offers and what schools might be starting to break away from the rest.
WR Jelani Watkins Jelani Watkins 5'9" | 170 lbs | WR Atascocita | 2024 State TX – 5’9″ 170 / Klein Oak HS — @laaared1
The nation’s fastest high schooler clocks a blazing 10.02 in the 100-meter dash. He’s also one of the most electrifying receivers in the country.
Blink and you’ll miss him. Watkins can take just about any pass to the house, and he does it with a combination of world-class speed, field vision, and an unmatched ability to weave in and out of traffic. On vertical routes, he tracks the ball exceptionally well and uses great hands to secure catches. More offers should roll in this season.
Currently has 16 P5 offers, including Miami, Michigan, LSU, Texas A&M, and Baylor.
WR Micah Hudson Micah Hudson 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Lake Belton | 2024 State TX – 6’0″ 185 / Lake Belton HS — @iAmMike1x
Red zone threat. Check. Elite speed. Check. Makes cornerbacks look silly. Check.
Arguably the most polished receiver in Texas, Hudson runs great routes, high points the football on deep throws, and shows the ability to beat jams at the line of scrimmage. His speed allows him to consistently create separation downfield, and his physical style of play should make him a reliable 3rd down threat at the next level.
Currently has 20 P5 offers, including Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame.
OT Ashton Funk Ashton Funk 6'7" | 300 lbs | OL Katy Tompkins | 2024 State TX – 6’6″ 295 / Tompkins HS — @AshtonFunk2024
The lone offensive lineman in the Top 10, Funk plays football angry. With prototypical size for the position and the feet of a basketball player, he’s unquestionably the top offensive tackle in the class. He is a natural knee-bender who punishes defensive linemen in the run game, and protects his quarterback’s blind side in the throw game.
Currently has 22 P5 offers, including Florida, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and USC.
QB Mabrey Mettauer Mabrey Mettauer 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB The Woodlands | 2024 State TX – 6’5″ 225 / The Woodlands HS — @MabreyMettauer
Sophomore Stats: 66.3% completion. Passing – 1,921 yards, 22 touchdowns, 3 interceptions // Rushing – 390 yards and 13 touchdowns
How a quarterback drops back and what the start of his release looks like tell you a lot, and Mettauer looks like a Power 5-ready signal-caller right now. The second quarterback in our Top 10, he has a smooth release, cannon arm, and impressive accuracy. He’s a threat anywhere on the field, but particularly in the red zone, where his physical running ability allows him to power through any defender who stands in his way. More offers will pour in this season for the talented QB.
Visited the Tar Heels of UNC in June.
Currently has 17 P5 offers, including North Carolina, Miami, Louisville, and Florida.
S Ka’Davion Dotson Ka’Davion Dotson 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Duncanville | 2024 State TX – 6’0″ 180 / Duncanville HS — @Kadavion_Dotson
The lone defensive back on the list, Dotson comes in as the #10 prospect in the class of 2024.
He’s extremely versatile, has unlimited range, shows elite closing speed, and delivers the kind of hits that would make Ed Reed smile.
Has recently visited Oregon and LSU.
Currently has 15 P5 offers, including the Ducks, Tigers, USC, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma State.
