Last week, Wyoming defeated Harrison 35-0 and Taft defeated Roger Bacon 32-0. There are several talented players in this game on both teams and here are five of those players to keep an eye on Friday night.
Elias Rudolph Elias Rudolph 6’4″ | 220 lbs | DL Taft | 2024 FL plays as a DE where he lines up in a 5T. Against the pass, he is quick off the ball and is very aggressive at the point of attack as he delivers a well-timed punch to the frame of the OT before using his very good play strength to shed the block. He displays very good closing speed in pursuit of the QB before finishing up with a sack. Against the run, he stacks the OT before disengaging from the block. Quickly locates the ball carrier and makes the tackle in his gap preventing a gain of significant yardage.
He shows good vision as he finds the open hole with solid quickness and agility to get to the outside and turn the corner. He displays good acceleration and play speed as he outruns all defenders on a long touchdown run. He plays with excellent power and contact balance when running inside as he breaks tackles from LB with ease and falls forward for a few extra yards when tackled. He displays great mental toughness as he rises to the occasion in the red zone.
Elijah Garnes Elijah Garnes 6’2″ | 270 lbs | OL Taft | 2023 State OH plays as a LT. While run blocking, he delivers a powerful punch to the frame of the DE and shows very good physical toughness and play strength as he finishes the block to the ground for a pancake. He shows good quickness and play speed as he attempts to block LB at the 2nd level and effectively uses his size and technique to win easily. In pass pro, he plays with a good, wide base and negates the progress of the DL with his quality play strength and hand use.
He displays good vision combined with very good change of direction to elude LB and DL in the backfield before advancing into the secondary. Shows good short area quickness to bend it back or bounce it to the outside. He shows good play speed as he outruns all defenders after he turns the corner on outside runs as he scores on a long touchdown run. Displays very good contact balance when running inside as he breaks tackles from LB with ease.

DJ Gray
Plays as an OLB. Against the run, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play before quickly penetrating the LOS. He shows quality instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit and makes the tackle behind the LOS for a TFL. Against the pass, he shows very good explosiveness at the snap and quickly gets in the face of the QB as he blitzes off the edge. He does an outstanding job of timing his hands perfectly to deflect the ball for a PBU.
