This means there are hundreds of prospects in the state that are highly productive and prolific players at this level and are capable of making an impact beyond high school. So naturally, some prospects fall under the radar in this state.
Here, we take a look at more of the best 2023 prospects in Georgia without an offer.
Caleb Tisby – DB – Statesboro
Tisby is an explosive playmaker that shows plenty of versatility on the defensive side of the ball. He can line up pretty much anywhere except the DL and he holds his own. The first thing you notice is that he has a knack for creating turnovers. On film, you can see him strip the ball from the ball carrier numerous times and break off big returns, he also has excellent vision and awareness when he drops back into coverage and can jump routes pretty easily. A good way to describe Tisby is that he plays like a “heat-seeking missile”. He shows great speed and aggressiveness which means he will fly to the ball and make the play. Tisby spends a lot of time at a Nickel/OLB type spot, and I think with his playstyle, that could be where his future is long-term.
Owen Phillips – DL – Milton
Another versatile playmaker that can play up and down the defensive front. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in sheer aggression and technique. Phillips is extremely quick off the ball and has excellent pursuit skills. Oftentimes, it looks like he can overwhelm the offensive front with his speed and effort alone. To go along with his physical tools, he is an extremely fundamentally sound player with a wide arsenal of pass-rushing moves. He uses his arms exceptionally well so that offensive linemen can’t get their hands on him. Once he gains that leverage, his speed and controlled explosiveness do the rest. If he was sitting at 6’5 230, Phillips would be a prospect littered with D1 offers.
Wyatt Smalley – ATH – Milton
Athletic two-way player with a nice frame and a high ceiling. At around 6’4 215, he is already built nicely but has room to add about 20-30 pounds if he wishes. At DE and TE, he could be considered smaller in mass, but he still flashes a lot of tools on tape. At the DE/EDGE spot, where he spends most of his time, he is extremely fast off the edge and shows some nice bend. He also has some nice pursuit skills, frequently flushing the QB out of the pocket and chasing down ball carriers. He does spend some time at TE, where his speed and length work in his favor as a mismatch, but I project him at the EDGE position long term. He looks better physically this year than he did last year, and if he can continue to grow, he could develop into a late bloomer on the recruiting trail.
Bradley Gabriel – DB – Lambert
Tennessee Tech baseball commit, but Gabriel shows plenty of promise on the gridiron as well. Spends some time on both sides of the ball. but I think DB is in his future, that is if he plays football beyond high school. At around 6’1 175, he has great length which allows him to step up and play some man coverage pretty easily. That length also allows him to play the ball extremely efficiently. On top of that, he is a hard hitter who flies to the ball and generates some power upon impact. Also plays at receiver, where his speed and his length give him a leg up on any defender he lines up across from. Clearly a good athlete that could probably play both football and baseball at the next level.
