This means there are hundreds of prospects in the state that are highly productive and prolific players at this level and are capable of making an impact beyond high school. So naturally, some prospects fall under the radar in this state.
Here, we take a look at some of the best 2023 prospects in Georgia without an offer.
Tyson Everett – RB – Stephens County
Last season, Everett rushed for over 1000 yards on 5.0 YPC and added 7 TDs. He did this all while sharing carries with 2025 RB Javin Gordon Javin Gordon 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Stephens County | 2025 State GA . Between Everett and Gordon, Stephens County has one of the best RB duos in the state. At around 5’9 170 pounds and playing at a smaller school in the northern part of the state, Everett has flown under the radar. He has taken some visits to some schools, but he has no offers to date. Regardless, if he can have another productive season and show some more promise on film, then someone should take a chance on him. On film, there are a few things that really stand out. He has excellent vision and patience which allows him to piece his way through the defense. He also has great speed and explosiveness, so once he hits the hole, he is off to the races. For a smaller back, he does show the ability to hold his own in between the tackles. Everett has a lot to like on film, and another season like last year should help him climb up boards.
Jaylen Poe – RB – North Paulding
Poe is an elusive back that finished with over 1,000 total yards last season and found the endzone 17 times. At 5’10 210, he has more than enough size to hold his own from a physical standpoint. Poe is another prospect that has drawn some interest on the trail, but nobody has decided to take a chance on him just yet. On film, his elusiveness and patience as a runner are on full display. He does an excellent job of playing under control and waiting for his blocks to develop. He also shows great footwork and is a quick-cut back which allows him to piece his way down the field. Once he gets space, Poe has more than enough acceleration to separate himself from the defense. His game is reminiscent to that of Le’Veon Bell and Kerryon Johnson. With another productive season, offers should be coming his way. They should already be there.
Josh Nelson Josh Nelson 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR South Forsyth | 2023 State GA – ATH – South Forsyth
Nelson is one of the most productive two-way players in the state after breaking onto the scene last season. Offensively, he finished with 645 receiving yards and 7 TDs while averaging 23 YPC. On the defensive side of the ball, he was just as productive, finishing with 51 total tackles and coming away with 3 INTs. At around 5’8 and 160 pounds, Nelson may be considered “undersized”. Regardless, he plays much bigger than his size indicates and he is a bonafide playmaker. At receiver, he is a touchdown threat every time he touches the ball. He can take a screen to the house with his elite speed, but he has an underrated ability to make plays in tight coverage and be a factor in the downfield passing game. He is a good route runner with good footwork, when you pair that with his speed, he is a dangerous weapon for the offense. On the defensive side of the ball, he can play press coverage against bigger defenders and get the best of them, he also shows the ability to read the QB and jump routes with ease. His size might be why schools are so hesitant to offer. But the film doesn’t lie. Wherever Nelson lines up, he is going to make plays.
Markel Oliver – ATH – Jackson County
Oliver is another smaller two-way prospect that plays a physical brand of football and also has elite speed. Last season, Oliver broke on in a huge way as he finished with 500 total yards of offense and 6 TDs. On defense, he finished with 39 tackles and an INT. When you add in some production on special teams, you find that Oliver will make plays all over the field. At receiver, his elite speed gives the offense the ability to take the top off the defense. There aren’t many DBs that can keep him in front of them. He is also a physical player that has good ball skills, that physicality also translates to the defensive side of the ball. To go along with his receiving ability, Oliver also shows good blocking ability on film. Oliver is a high-energy player that plays with a chip on his shoulder. He is just now cracking the surface, and another productive season should allow him to gain some attention on the trail.
