Aquinas The State Leader in State Titles 2022 Preview
In this article:
When you're considered the poster child for winning state championships in New York like Aquinas (Rochester) is with there NYSPHAA leading 8 state titles regardless of classification then there's always a target on your back. And everyone will play against you like its a state title game. Although Aquinas hasn't won a state championship since 2018, the Little Irish were just in the Section V Class AA Championship game in 2021, losing a heartbreaker to arch rival McQuaid Jesuit (Rochester). There will be some gaps to fill on the roster but AQ should do AQ like things in 2022 and their first three game stretch to start the season is a welcome gauntlet that the Little Irish embrace each and every season. Head coach Derek Annechino had this to say about the upcoming 2022 season "With an experienced OL, some game breaking skill players and a fast aggressive defense, I expect to compete with everyone." Some of the top returning players for the Aquinas Little Irish that hope to lead AQ back to another Section V title and State Title run;
